I have decided to try and post daily (or every other day) prompts for writers. Sound interesting? You can write a couple paragraphs, a sentence, or a few pages! Whatever you want. I will then try to read them all and post the best one for everyone to read.

POST SCRIPT
Hold up, I was about to post this. But something just crossed my mind as I was writing the tags for this post. I just wanna say I feel sorry for some of you. You know who you are. You people who enjoy when you see someone you envy 'fail.' You know who you are, the small-minded, the weak willed, to scared to follow your heart variety. You know who you are. Sheet, writing out the tags got me thinking about you all. But I must say it pushes me further. When I get kicked, I get up and keep moving forward. I will never let you have the last laugh. So keep it up. And after you see it can be done, then maybe you will expand your mind. Maybe you will have the courage to follow your hearts and get off my jock. I'm out. Sorry just had to get that out.

And Another thing sorry, I just got struck with something else. I don't know why those closest to me behave the strangest when I tell them I make music. Most of them don't even want to hear it. I mean people who I least expected. It's crazy. But 'I ain't mad atcha.' I still love ya. But nonetheless, I understand people come and go and that's just part of life. Maybe we will reunite when the time is right. Peace peoples. Take care.

Global stocks plunged to five-year lows on Friday as panic gripped. The U.S. S&P index and European stocks suffered their worst week ever, losing around a fifth of their value.

"In a worst-case scenario, governments will need a few more weeks to take the correct measures and the markets could fall another 20 percent. Then, we'll turn around," the IMF's chief economist Olivier Blanchard was quoted as saying in Italian daily Corriere della Sera.

The world's rich nations vowed on Friday to take all necessary steps to unfreeze credit markets and ensure banks can raise money but they offered no collective course of action to avert a deep global recession.

In a surprisingly brief statement after a 3-1/2 hour meeting, the Group of Seven stopped short of backing a British plan to guarantee lending between banks, something many on Wall Street saw as vital to end growing market panic.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The United States appealed for patience on Saturday as world leaders raced to restore financial market confidence and avert the deepest global recession in decades.

President George W. Bush met with Group of Seven economic chiefs and officials from the International Monetary Fund and World Bank, and said top industrial nations grasped the gravity of the crisis and would work together to solve it.

"I'm confident that the world's major economies can overcome the challenges we face," Bush said, adding that Washington was working as fast as possible to implement a $700 billion financial bailout package approved a week ago.

"The benefits will not be realized overnight, but as these actions take effect, they will help restore stability to our markets and confidence to our financial institutions."

Confidence has been in short supply and panic has swept through global markets, driving stocks to a five-year low on Friday and prompting banks to hoard cash. That has choked off lending to businesses and households, threatening to turn a global economic slowdown into a dangerously deep recession.

A teacher in New York decided to honor each of her seniors in High School by telling them the difference each of them had made. She called each student
to the front of the class, one at a time. First, she told each of them how they had made a difference to her, and the class. Then she presented each of
them with a blue ribbon,imprinted with gold letters, which read, “Who I Am Makes a Difference.” Afterwards, the teacher decided to do a class project,
to see what kind of impact recognition would have on a Community. She gave each of the students three more blue ribbons, and instructed them to go out
and spread this acknowledgment ceremony. Then they were to follow up on the results, see who honored whom, and report back to the class in about a week.

One of the boys in the class went to a junior executive in a nearby Company, and honored him for helping him with his career planning. He gave him a blue
ribbon, and put it on his shirt. Then he gave him two extra ribbons and said, “We’re doing a class project on recognition, and we’d like for you to go
out, find somebody to honor, give them a blue ribbon, then give them the extra blue ribbon so they can acknowledge a third person, to keep this acknowledgment
ceremony going. Then please report back to me and tell me what happened.”

Later that day, the junior executive went in to see his boss, who had been noted, by the way, as being kind of a grouchy fellow. He sat his boss down,
and he told him that he deeply admired him for being a creative genius. The boss seemed very surprised. The junior executive asked him if he would accept
the gift of the blue ribbon, and would he give him permission to put it on him. His surprised boss said, “Well, sure.” The junior executive took the blue
ribbon and placed it right on his boss’s jacket, above his heart. As he gave him the last extra ribbon, he said, “Would you take this extra ribbon, and
pass it on by honoring somebody else. The young boy who first gave me the ribbons is doing a project in school, and we want to keep this recognition ceremony
going and find out how it affects people.”

That night, the boss came home to his 14-year-old son, and sat him down. He said, “The most incredible thing happened to me today. I was in my office,
and one of the junior executives came in and told me he admired me, and gave me a blue ribbon for being a creative genius. Imagine! He thinks I’m a creative
genius! Then he put this blue ribbon that says, “Who I Am Makes a Difference”, on my jacket above my heart. He gave me an extra ribbon and asked me to
find somebody else to honor. As I was driving home tonight, I started thinking about whom I would honor with this ribbon, and I thought about you. I want
to honor you. My days are really hectic and when I come home, I don’t pay a lot of attention to you. Sometimes I scream at you for not getting good enough
grades in school, and for your bedroom being a mess. But somehow tonight, I just wanted to sit here and, well, just let you know that you do make a difference
to me. Besides your mother, you are the most important person in my life. You’re a great kid, and I love you!”

The startled boy started to sob and sob, and he couldn’t stop crying. His whole body shook. He looked up at his father and said through his tears, ”Dad,
earlier tonight I sat in my room and wrote a letter to you and Mom, explaining why I had killed myself, and I asked you to forgive me. I was going to commit
suicide tonight after you were asleep. I just didn’t think that you cared at all. The letter is upstairs. I don’t think I need it after all. His father
walked upstairs and found a heartfelt letter full of anguish and pain.

The boss went back to work a changed man. He was no longer a grouch, but made sure to let all of his employees know that they made a difference. The junior
executive helped several other young people with career planning, and never forgot to let them know that they made a difference in his life. And the young
boy and his classmates learned a valuable lesson, “Who you are DOES make a difference”.

I attended 7-8 lectures during this week all with the topic of community but with different focus areas. One of the things I noticed that was present at all of the lectures I went was that Facebook was mentioned - at ALL the lectures. Either it was a topic of discussion or used as an example or a reference point but it was always present. So, I put 2 + 2 together and realize that this facebook thing is really on people's minds a lot. The thing about updating your status all the time is a really funny thing - so I thought, why not use that on Relaxypants?

But do we consider Facebook a community? - What commitment do you have to facebook? Basically none. I would like to define a community as a space where you expect something from others and they expect something from you - a string sense of commitment. Facebook does not require that from you. Its possible to have a very low level of participation. But why then do many spend so much time uploading their lives on Facebook? What need is that fulfilling or what commitment are being carried out?

I have compiled a random selection of "status updates" from this sunday - so this is what people are doing on a sunday.
