ATUALIZAÇÃO: Por outro lado, o TechRadar conversou com um representante da Konami inglesa, que afirmou que a empresa não tem planos para lançar o jogo em outra plataforma. Em quem acreditar? Nos japoneses ou nos ingleses da Konami?

No jogo de corrida "Burnout", por exemplo, o jogador cruza com outdoors de Obama enquanto dirige pela cidade fictícia.

Ao contrário do que muita gente pensa, a maioria de jogadores de videogame nos EUA não é tão adolescente. Um estudo divulgado pela Associação dos Softwares de Entretenimento (ESA, na sigla em inglês) em 2008 mostra que a média de idade do "gamer" é 35 anos, e 49% dos jogadores se situam na faixa de 18 a 49 anos. Apenas 25% têm menos de 18 anos.

Apesar de apostar nos games como um novo canal de campanha, Obama não é um grande entusiasta dessa forma de entretenimento. Durante um discurso em Chicago, ele, que tem duas filhas jovens, incentivou pais a "desligarem a TV e o videogame dez vez em quando e lerem um livro para seus filhos".

Em agosto, a fundação "Rock the vote" anunciou uma parceria com a Microsoft para permitir que usuários utilizassem o Xbox 360 para se “conscientizarem” sobre as eleições presidenciais de novembro. Utilizando a rede Xbox Live, os jogadores puderam participar de pesquisas de opinião e se registrar para poder votar em novembro.

Parece ser que los creadores de Metal Gear Solid: Guns of the patriots, uno de los juegos emblematicos y exclusivos de Sony estan pensando en llevar su juego a Xbox 360.

Sin duda es un rumor que podria convertirse en una gran noticia, es sabido que Metal Gear 4 es uno de los mejores juegos de PS3, y una exclusiva que no creo que Sony quiera perder. Pero que sin duda seria un exito de ventas en Xbox 360, es normal que los creadores quieran apostar por este port, ya que MGS 4 ha sido un juego muy caro de programar, y Xbox 360 lleva vendidas casi el doble de consolas que PS3, una gran cifra que hace pensar a los creadores de este magnifico juego.

Tendremos noticias pronto de  un MGS para Xbox? Quien sabe, Los rumores estan ahi...

Well to start out my Xbox 360 just broke :( Apparently it's to do with my AV cable, even though I use HDMI, and I've tried 2 different cables, So I'm just ignoring it and doing other stuff really. I'm just glad I ordered Saints Row 2 on PS3. And it's been dispatched Yay! Though Play.com never sent me the code to let me make a "personalised game sleeve"

I had booster injections at school today, nothing special really, though a couple of people fainted!

Oh well, life goes on, I hope Saints Row 2 comes tomorrow.

Dizer que estou empolgado com Gears Of War 2 é completa redundância, certo? O problema é que os "pre-reviews" (reviews embargados e sem notas) continuam aumentando o nível de saliva em minha boca!

Desta vez foi o Kotaku. A matéria É MUITO extensa, então vou postar aqui apenas os pontos principais. Vale ser destacado que o Kotaku NÃO GOSTA DE GEARS OF WAR, o que aumenta ainda mais minha empolgação com o que eles escreveram!

- É tudo aquilo que se espera. Barulhento, épico, visceral.

-2 é "O Império Contra Ataca" (melhor filme da série Star Wars) da franquia!

- Os checkpoints estão ainda melhor distribuidos. Sempre que você morre é possivel voltar muito perto de onde você estava.

- O Co-op está muito melhor. Agora sempre há algo para o parceiro fazer, como puxar uma alavanca, proteger alguém e etcs.

- No casual a campanha demora 8 horas (contra 6 do jogo anterior). No Hardcore o jogo dura cerca de 12 horas, mas houveram jornalistas que só terminaram em 20!!!

- "Em um certo momento o representante da Epic bateu no meu ombro e disse: 'Você quer testar o modo Horde? È que você só tem uma hora antes de te chutarmos daqui.' O QUÊ?! Estou jogando a 5 horas?! Sério, nunca havia perdido meu tempo assim em um jogo que não fosse Zelda!

O maior testamento do quão bom Gears Of War 2 é, foi o fato dele criar aquele tipo de mágica que faz até um não-fã de jogos de tiro como eu se sentirem completamente afundados na experiência me fazendo esquecer por que diabos eu não gosto desse tipo de jogo pra começo de conversa."

La verdad es que no me extrañaría nada teniendo en cuenta que la consola base de esta generación es XBOX 360 y que el único mercado en el que PlayStation 3 era intocable, el Japonés, ha caído y ya vende más consolas Microsoft que Sony.

Con los costes de desarrollo que hay actualmente en los juegos triple A, ¿es rentable desarrollar estos juegos en exclusiva? Veremos en que acaba todo esto.

- Ventas de consolas en Japón.

They have just signed a deal with Warner Borther which gives them the right to digitally distribute their movies. This is in addition to their existing deal with Sony that distributes movies via a plethora of platforms using the DivX technology- including the game and mobile devices. These two deals now give DivX access to virtually half of the world's movies!

The reason behind such firms backing DivX is their secure platform which prevents piracy. Besides, why should a studio restrict its distribution to one particular digital outlet? Warner also have a deal with Microsoft's XBox to distribute their movies as well as with Cinema Now- a leading online retailer of movies in digital format in the US.

This is a development that is going to majorly challenge Apple's closed-loop distribution of- Ipod/Iphone-Itunes-AppleTV. Why should a distributor or a digital retailer like ITunes (or Cinema Now) restrict access to a particular device? DiVX are likely to make the whole movie distribution eco system a bit more open. Although, their temptation to get a bigger share of the revenues via distribution to a proprietary device is quite visible in their DiVX Connected device. This device is a heaven for anyone who indulges in torrents every now and then for a bit of .avi fun!

Lets wait to hear how DivX front this distribution deal, and how much are they going to charge consumers for the movies. Apple's ability to lead the pricing models for the digital content is quite likely to be affected here. Cinema Now sell movies from anywhere between 10 to 16 dollars. An equivilant of that price in the UK might not under-cut Apple's current pricing... but then who knows. There is a great potential for DivX to take a leap into an advertising funded model here as well.

I say keep an eye on DivX!

The ad itself shows Obama next to a letter directing voters to "vote for change . com", when you can find more voters information about how to enter and where to ballot. Too bad Obama has cited video games as a problem to a good learning as freshly as yesterday, and there's no confirmation yet to the anecdote that McCain is looking to buy acne on the Monopoly stay.

The Obama campaign is now advertising in a very popular video game for the Xbox 360. Obama campaign has bought ad space within video games including Electronic Arts’ “Burnout Paradise”. One in-game ad, seen on a virtual billboard in the racing game, informs gamers that "Early Voting Has Begun" for the election, and includes a link to an Obama website.

Electronic Arts confirmed to GameSpot (a very popular gaming site) that the ads have been appearing on virtual Obama billboards since October 6, and will continue to run until election day in November.

The ads will appear in the Xbox 360 version of the game in 10 states, most of them hotly contested: Ohio, Florida, Iowa, Colorado, Indiana, Montana, North Carolina, New Mexico, Nevada, and Wisconsin.

In a report on GigaOM,  Holly Rockwood, director of corporate communications at Electronic Arts, told GigaOM. She adds, “Like most television, radio and print outlets, we accept advertising from credible political candidates,” she continued. “Like political spots on the television networks, these ads do not reflect the political policies of EA or the opinions of its development teams.”

In my earlier post I spoke about Google leveraging this medium & future of in-game advertising, but for a political campaign to be savvy enough to realize this opportunity exists and take advantage of it is really impressive. To my knowledge, this Burnout ad is far and away the most prominent use of a major online game to promote a presidential candidate’s campaign.

Now that Obama has entered this periphery! I really believe that we will see more in-game advertising  & effective use of virtual media in next presidential elections. However, the challenges in this periphery will be very game-specific:  advertising message will have to blend with the game & avoid falling into those obviously loud marketing tactics.  Last thing a gamer wants is, an intrusion of marketers in their me-my time with their hobby time. If the advertising message is communicated in a clever & non-intrusive manner, the message will be received positively.

בלי קשר להתחממות הגלובלית או למזג האויר המשונה בחוץ (היום ירד מבול כל הבוקר עם טמפרטורות בסביבות 26 מעלות), הסתיו הזה עומד להיות ממש חם. כמו בכל שנה לקראת הקריסמס, החל מהחודש הבא צפוי לנו מבול של משחקים חדשים, שינסו להתחרות על הלב והארנק במרוץ המתמיד להיות בראש טבלת הלהיטים.

כמכורה למשחקי תפקידים (RPG), אני עצמי מחכה במיוחד ל Fallout 3, משחק התפקידים הפוסט-אפוקליפטי של יוצרי Oblivion, וגם ל Fable II מבית Lionhead Studios שלפי סרטוני הדמו והביקורות המוקדמות, נראה מבטיח מאד. וכמובן ל Wrath of the Lich King, ההרחבה השניה למשחק התפקידים המקוון הגדול מכולם - World of Warcraft.

יחד עם אלו אני מתכננת לשים את ידי גם על Wii Music, ההמצאה החדשה של הוגה המשחקים המופלא Shigeru Miyamoto, שאני בטוחה שלמרות הביקורות המהוססות והחשדניות, תהפוך ללהיט ענק לפחות אצלי בסלון.

ואם תוסיפו לזה את Chrono Trigger - משחק ההרפתקאות המוערך שיצא בזמנו לקונסולת ה-SNES, ועומד עכשיו לחדש את ימיו ופניו על הנינטנדו DS, אני בטוחה שתסכימו איתי שהתחזית לחודשים הקרובים נראית פשוט מעולה.

Obama has bill boards in the video game Burn Out Paradise. I have mixed emotions, on one hand as a voter and a resident of the united states, I feel like it cheapens it a bit, I feel like running for the Presidency of this country is a big deal and that people might/will look down on advertising in video games. On the other hand (gamer thoughts) the gaming industry is a huge demographic and reaches people of every race and gender and just about every age group that is eligible to vote and will spark conversations with those that are young enough to ask questions but are not old enough to vote. Gaming is so popular and so forthcoming that it would almost be silly not to advertise there, it's like running a commercial at superbowl almost.

All in all, I think it's a great way to put himself out there, as someone you wouldn't mind shooting the shit with but at the same time, someone you know would kick your ass at war strategy. The in game billboard was genius. Good thinking.

Rumor: McCain wants to know if he can put bill board advertisements on Nintendo 64. :D
