As the new phones such as the Iphone and Gphone are being released, they have the capability to connect to wireless networks. There for it will be very easy to connect to the internet and have free VoIP calls. People will no longer have to type in a phone number and pay call charges.

I remembered reading that this is supported if the VG224 is registering using Skinny, but couldn't find any documentation on what the codes were.

I ended up finding the answer on an archived post from the [cisco-voip] mailing list.

To Enable Call Forward All on a VG224 you require the following command :

VG224(Config)#stcapp feature access-code

To View the Access Codes use the following Command:

Sadly, because of Apple's strict restrictions on the iPhone SDK, the iPhone version of Fring does not have access to the iPhone 3G's 3G connectivity, meaning that for the time being anyway, this is strictly a wifi application.

The other concession is that it cannot run in the background, so you will need to load fring each time you want to make a VoIP call, unless you just want to leave it running all the time, which is unlikely for the average iPhone user. Even so, as an early release, fring have made the very best of the SDK in among Apple’s various restrictions.

It has to be said that the application is pretty limited in comparison to various other smartphone versions of the app and unless you tend to be within constant reach of an accessible wifi point, it’s unlikely that fring will stand to save you much money on making calls. On the other hand, seeing as the new iPod touch is fully compatible with the mic equipped Apple headphones, it too can now be used to make calls, which is a major upside for the device.

Text messages and call logs of communications on the TOM-Skype network are being stored on poorly secured public servers along with the encryption codes for the transmissions, according to the report. Text messages are filtered for keywords that trigger logging of the message, namely, messages mentioning dissidents, Taiwan, Falun Gong, or independence. These texts are not delivered to the intended recipient; instead, the full text of these messages is stored on the publicly-accessible servers, which the study's author was able to access and decode. Also, many texts were filtered and stored that did not contain any of the flagged words on the file the report's author was able to access. This, according to the report, insinuates that individual users of the software could be flagged for surveillance of all communications, once a banned word has been found in messages of voice transmissions.

The findings of the report suggest that TOM Online and perhaps Skype itself are much more complicit with the Chinese government than they will admit. Skype has denied cooperation with the Chinese in call and text monitoring numerous times, and responded to the author of the survey asserting that records of texts were discarded and not displayed or transmitted anywhere, according to the report. But Villenveneuve was able to find records of IP addresses, usernames and other identifying information on the servers dating to August 2007. Skype representatives attribute the security issues to TOM's practices, not Skype's, but the evidence is rather damning that they at least had to be somewhat aware of the volume and sensitivity of data being stored by the Chinese. 

Breaching Trust Report.

The first thing you’ll want to do when you want to compare VoIP providers is find out which ones offer services in your area. You may be able to eliminate a couple providers just by looking at their areas of service. Once you eliminate the providers that just won’t work out, you’ll have to look at features and price.

One of the biggest differences between VoIP providers is the features that they can offer. Many have very easy to use routers that allow you to use a regular analog signal and digital signal when it’s suitable. Some VoIP providers only allow calls to other VoIP users, and others allow you to call anyone, anywhere, anytime.

If you make a lot of long distance calls you’ll really want to pay attention to the plans and the provider that you go with. Some VoIP providers don’t distinguish between local and long distance calls, so you basically get all your calls one month for just a service fee. Other VoIP service providers don’t allow you to make long distance calls, or they charge exorbitant fees for them. So, the amount of long distance phone calls you make may be the deciding factor in your choice for a VoIP provider.

Do a lot of research, just like you would when you are looking into any service. If you know whom you are dealing with it’s a lot easier to make an educated decision. When you determine exactly what you need then it’s just a matter of matching your needs with what is offered! Good luck, VoIP is definitely the wave of the future and it will only get easier and more advanced!

En Algerie la Téléphonie IP qui elle aussi a vu le jour un peu tôt grâce a L'Eepad n'a jamais évolué ,pourquoi !!!! eh bien c'est simple on critique tout simplement et en plus entre nous les amateurs de SKYPE ou MSN Chat ou je ne sais comme invention de Téléphonie ou de Banniere PUB téléphoner gratuitement vous croyez sincerement que l'algerie a des clients a ce niveau la  ,même les entreprises Algeriennes qui ne payent pas leur facture téléphonique ne s'y interressent pas .
je croise les doigts pour eux .

But there are many solutions, and they are all relatively simple. If you don't feel like messing around with port forwarding, many devices support the ability to disable the web interface by calling a certain number from one of the connected phones. (**** -> 7932# -> 1 or 0# to toggle on/off on the PAP2T) An even simpler option is of course to password-protect your device. A third option is to change the port from the default 80 (HTTP) to an arbitrary number (Although you should stay away from port 443)

As the internet revolutionizes our means of communications, we must never forget that it is a very open place, and that leaving your door unlocked could lead to bad things - whether you do it on the internet or in real life.

After installing and testing, the good news is, it works, bad news is... it's a first release.  Call quality was OK, but the person on the other side said it sounded like a cheap microphone.  I don't know if the problem is with the software, or the fact that the iPhone wasn't built for VoIP.  In either case, I am glad that it was finally released, hopefully they improve the compression or work out the bugs to improve quality which would also hopefully allow it to work over data networks.... a boy can dream can't he.

Hace unos días os comenté de esta aplicación y de sus características, pues bien, ya está disponible para su descarga "gratuita" desde la tienda de Apple, su descarga se puede hacer directamente desde el iPhone, o desde la tienda de iTunes.
