Street animation is an exciting genre that takes street art to the next level. This example, using only water and the sidewalk, is an excellent example of what is possible.

It was less than a year after you met Cusp that you had the idea. That, as you learned from her and the others, was too small a period for a writer's career to develop. For you to achieve anything of note. But no matter what the rules said it turned out to be the whole history for you. It was a third of your life there. At least you could claim that. For a third of your life in London, you wrote.

Joyce Gordon Gallery hosted a special exhibition of urban street art from Oakland's TCB Crew over this past weekend.  Bay Area aerosol artists, dancers, curators and friends came out to check the canvases, drawings, installations and clothing painted by veteran artists Refa One, Toons One and Chris Herod aka MadHatter. Graffiti and street art have been getting play on the gallery circuit for years but the show was a first for the Gordon Gallery.  There's talk of similar shows, more involved shows in the future and judging from the reception at the reception, A Joyce Gordon Graffiti Gallery might not be such a bad idea.  Check the photos if you missed it.-kwan

Commuters at Liverpool's Lime Street station need only to glance at a nearby office block to bear witness to their impending doom. What they will see is a 50-foot, 40 ton spider that currently lies dormant, but it is set to "come alive" on Friday. Apparently, the spider is a component in an elaborate bit of street theater that will take place at various landmarks throughout the city—culminating in a "spectacular finish" on Sunday. - GIZMODO.COM

It's like my fantasies of living out a robot invasion or maybe even an episode of Ghost In The Shell: Stand-Alone Complex are coming to life!  Seriously, doesn't that look like a Tachikoma?

So, anyone in Liverpool that reads this?  Lemme know what happens.

Check out new works by semi-secret superfamous street artist Banksy. All five were just put up in New Orleans, to commemorate the third anniversary of Hurricane Katrina on August 29. Some of the pieces relate directly the hurricane and its disastrous aftermath; others are targeted at the legacy of Fred Radtke, an infamous N.O. anti-graffiti crusader known as the "Gray Ghost" for his practice of painting over graffiti in gray paint—regardless of the color of the underlying wall.

As a New Orleanean, I think these works are fantastic and a great statement by one of the most renoun artists of America's youthful generation. Against the merciless waves of media mediocrity and conformist pop culture, his graffiti cuts through the dross and opens eyes again to seeing the truth. Banksy's New Orleans works seem very well informed on local conditions and perspectives; I suspect he'd been spending time with some NOLA kids . He seems to encapsulate, through a dozen scattered graffiti works, the sentiment of a lot of us younger residents who lived through a terrible August in NOLA a few years ago.

Hopefully Fred Radtke will leave these works unscathed...

Even though yesterday I posted a photo of flowers, I must admit I detest “pretty pictures”, flowers, smiling children, etc - cringe
I much prefer ugly pictures, they are far more interesting to look at - and they don’t have the squirm factor.

Give me a wet cracked wall.

Yesterday, Elizabeth at The Ladder Herald saw some compelling new street art on a wall near 18th and Valencia. Today, she saw some cranky dude scrape it off. (And somewhere in between, she wrote a moving analysis of all the Sarah Palin news.) Thanks, Elizabeth!

Toma Pegata! es el nombre de la exposicion que se celebrara en Logroño (La Rioja, España) del 17 al 31 de Octubre de 2008, A través de la cual se pretende demostrar a la gente, el alto valor que tiene un trozo de papel tan pequeño y la multitud de personajes o frases que de estas pegatinas surgen.
Se estima la recepción de cartas con pegatinas de al menos 120 artistas de todo el mundo.

La exposición se celebrara durante la Semana de Arte Joven y nuevas tendencias de la capital Riojana, llamada "Semana Artefacto"

Sera itinerante, debido a que es una carpa inflable, y durante 7 días estará en los puntos mas céntricos de la ciudad: Plaza del Ayuntamiento, Plaza de Correos, la Escuela de Artes, Escuela Superior de Diseño y por ultimo quedara instalada a las puertas del Centro Cultural "La Gota de Leche", punto desde el cual se coordina todo el evento.Pronto quedaran fijas las fechas y lugares donde se instalara la carpa.

Durante los días que dura la exposición se impartirán dos cursos,uno dirijido a niños de 8 a 16 años y otro para todos los públicos. En los cuales se les hablara sobre el movimiento, y pasaran a crear sus propias pegatinas , promoviendo así el uso de ellas.

Además el dia 17 de Octubre habrá una Fiesta Inaguración con lunch incluido, y puede que alguna actuación, además una exhibición de Skate.

selbst wer nicht auf graffiti steht sollte diesen film unbedingt gesehen haben. der typ hat einen kompletten kurzfilm an die wand gemalt!! respekt für soviel mühe und das ergebnis rechtfertigt es auch. wirklich beeindruckend.
