We gona run run run when we hear this. Simian Mobile Disco does it again, this time it's a collabo with nike. "Run" just reminds me of another 'sporty' song, seems like SMD is going the way of Kraftwerk if you notice the similarities with "Tour de France." Techy computer song, Soulwax have been playing it throughout the summer.

Here's another Gig List for you lovely people. Got a couple of nights out at one of Brighton's best venues: Concorde 2. This mid-sized venue, that's operated in Brighton for many years, often plays host to some of the best acts that have floated through town. Although I'm only posting about two gigs, there's actually seven bands on show, all of which are looking white hot. 

THE WHIP
We like The Whip very much here at The Recommender. They just about manage to tick all the boxes - great basslines that move your feet for you, a cooler-than-cool swagger to their tunes, a fashionable attire, electro squiggles throughout etc etc. They're a brilliant example of Electro-Indie, where so many bands have fallen short before them. It's music you can really dance to - with lyrics. A great combo. Hailing from Manchester, this 4-piece are well worth an evening out. They hit our beloved Concorde 2 venue with some of the finest support slots I've seen in ages. Namely; Pnau and Transformer. Get there soon enough to catch them all and you will get one hell of a lovely earful. Aren't we the lucky ones!?

KITSUNE
Arguably THE finest record label in the entire world (OK, OK, please don't bash my message box too much about Modular, Ed Banger and everybody else...). As well as being a Parisian boutique fashion brand, this Kitsune label have released on thier books the likes of Digitalism, Fox & Wolf, Autokratz and Simian Mobile Disco, amongst many others. They regularly provide us with their famous compilation albums, (they're now on number 6), with tracks from artists that encompass the melodic electro that the label so often pursues. These albums often become taste-makers for the global scene. They kick off a tour to back up the latest album's launch, with the likes of Autokratz, Punks Jump Up, Beni and the fantastic Heartsrevolution on show. It really doesn't get a lot better than that for a night out. Check out the label, fall in love with the artists, and definitely get your ass down to Concorde 2 for this gig.

Самият vinyl е с много готин диско-лилав цвят и разбира се най-интересната част - това, което блещука толкова е брокат, защото цялата е покрита с такъв.

The vinyl is so cool, soooo discoish, so purple and - the most interesting part - the whole thing is covered with brocade.

Vreau sa vorbesc despre o tendindta imbucuratoare a artistilor straini (britanici, mai exact) de a se folosi de mandra noastra tarisoara pentru a-si comercializa decadenta capitalista :D Da, cativa artisti (de renume chiar!) bautori de ceai au trecut si pe la noi de-au cerut pamant si apa... pentru filmari adicatelea. Si nu oricine! Nume mari, monser... nume mari (ma rog, cel putin doua din ele).

momentan clipul imi da eroare de oriunde l-as lua, stati pe receptie pana remediez problema :P

O melodie energica (ce altceva am vrea de la Kasabian?) si martiala (din nou, ce altceva?), Empire cerea un video razboinic. Si unde altundeva sa filmezi asta decat prin pustietatile din jurul Capitalei inca netrecute in intravilan de vreun porc imputit smecher. Videoclipul imi este drag pentru ca: 1)a fost primul pe care l-am vazut pe mult iubitul meu MTV TWO englezesc si 2) e despre un razboi uitat de multi, dar care este puternic intiparit in memoria poporului englez, ne-a dat primele fotografii de razboi (si deci primii reporteri in sensul modern al cuvantului), a fost prima data cand o anumita categorie de medici a fost luata in serios si, in mod interesant, a avut un rol esential in nasterea tarisoarei noastre (asta ca sa nu mai zic ca au murit cam 1 milion de oameni). Un videoclip sangeros, incheiat printr-un citat incredibil de trist.

Muse - Knights of Cydonia

Filmat doar partial in Romania (dar o sa recunoasteti cu siguranta Vulcanii Noroiosi si Dacia retro-futurista :D), videoclipul este o pastisa care satirizeaza multe din cliseele filmelor western, SF si (!) cu arte martiale. A, si la sfarsit apare mesajul "Shot on location - The People's Republic of Socialist Romanistan" (copyrightul "filmului" arata ca e facut in '81). Partea cea mai geniala: aparitia regizorului si a cameramanului intr-o oglinda. Priceless...

Colegului Dez nu i-a placut, daca bine imi aduc aminte, dar mie mi se pare fantastic. Nici nu stiu ce sa scriu, trebuie pur si simplu vazut. (Doar atat spun: inainte ca vreun "patriot" sa sara ca ars, clipul ca realizare artistica trebuie sa recunoasteti ca e la inaltime, indiferent ca prezinta o fata reala, dar neplacuta pentru multi, a tarisoarei.)

From the heart of south London comes the brand new monthly party - KikBak, a collaboration brought to you by Ficklegruber (Mayo Clinic), Pogo DJs and Badlands (Chew The Fat!).  Born from their shared love of club music that pushes the boundaries, KikBak has been put together by this local collective to give a south London crowd the chance to sample DJs that define the new talent of House, Electro and Techno music (without the need to travel to East London for the pleasure).

Heading up the launch night is a DJ & producer who is no stranger to being at the forefront of a scene.  Scott Cooper is currently resident at the pioneering Moda club night, playing regularly alongside the likes of Kissy Sell Out, Sinden, Herve & Simian Mobile Disco.  Scott’s productions have already found favour amongst the elite of the House scene, with his collaborations and remixes finding homes on labels such as the Chicago-based Pottymouth & Ministry resident - Lee Mortimer’s Wearhouse imprint, making Scott the perfect guest to introduce what promises to be the best House party south of the river.

Expect sweaty, hassle-free fun and bass-heavy, genre-defining beats and you won’t be disappointed.

I just love how filthy gorgeous this video looks. Seeing whipped cream sprayed slowly into a thin model's mouth feels so right and so wrong. Somewhere, I'd like think Chris Cunningham is smiling.

URB tipped us off to the next stars of of Nike's Original Run series today, and we're happy to report it will be Simian Mobile Disco.

Nike's ingenious concept for Original Run spotlights exclusive original compositions for continuous workout mixes to accompany their product partnership with Apple. Past artists include Aesop Rock, The Crystal Method, A-Trak, The Hives, Cassius and LCD Soundsystem. While the supervision seems to keep in line with larger indie-pop music culture, the outcome has been widely received as a solid product.

As per the odometer feature for our Nano, I think we'll just have the music, thanks.

O vocalista do Queens of the Stone Age, Josh Homme, vai produzir o novo álbum do Artic Monkeys. Quem informou que a parceria vai mesmo rolar foi a rede britânica BBC.

Josh vai viajar com a banda para a Califórnia para começar a trabalhar as novas faixas. Entretanto, ainda não foi divulgado se as músicas vão fazer parte do terceiro disco dos “macacos árticos”.

Só achei uma coisinha estranha. Há cerca de dois meses, quem havia dito estar produzindo o álbum foi James Ford, uma das metades do Simian Mobile Disco. E, através dele, tudo o que sabemos é que as músicas do novo disco do Artic Monkeys terão influências dos dois trabalhos anteriores dos caras, o Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not, de 2006 e Favorite Worst Nightmare, de 2007.

Tenho que dizer que, com certeza, prefiro a parceria com Josh Homme, mas, lógico, estou mega curiosa para ver o resultado e vou ficar na espreita. Qualquer novidade, posto aqui para vocês.

If you can't handle an electro-gangbang all night, then go to the 28th annual Sunset Junction Street Festival. This year's lineup features Broken Social Scene, the mutherfucking Black Keys, Antibalas Afrobeat Orchestra, Health, !!!, Cold War Kids and Kinky. I'm sure there are other performers as well but if they haven't been blogged about by Disco Workout or Pitchforkmedia, then I don't give a fuck either.

If you're as psychotic and willing to damage your body as I am, then join me as I rape my ears and lungs all day and all night by attending both events.

And because I masturbate to this shit nearly every night, I just want to say that this year's Halloween will be amazing. It's all about HARD's Haunted Mansion.

Christian Burkhard - Doubledub [Raum...Musik]

German producer releases 2nd LP. "Doubledub" is the best track from Christian Burkhardt's LP, also titled, Doubledub. It starts off with a smooth rolling bass and only gets better once the looped and filtered vocals enter. It has a cool French feel to it. It reminds me of the Briggtte Bardot song "Contact", which can be found on Booka Shade's DJ Kicks album. Check it out.

Simian Mobile Disco - Sleep Deprevation (Simon Baker Remix) [Wichita Recordings]

SMD recently released Sample and Hold (Attack Sustain Decay Remixes). Continuing with a tech-house theme; I am posting the Simon Baker remix of "Sleep Deprivation." The song doesn't overwhelm you or progress too much, but has an enjoyable, and what I like to call upbeat minimal, feel to it. If you have the spare cash, I would also recommend purchasing Pinch's dubstep remix of I believe. If you dig Pinch then give his album Underwater Dancehall a listen, or Burial's Untrue.

Probspot - Stalker (Fine Taste Remix) [Curvve]

Fine Taste, a duo from the Netherlands, have only been working together for about two years apparently have already developed the skill to make good tunes. That is exactly what Fine Taste did with their remix of "Stalker." I can't wait to hear what kind of tunes they will be making two years from now.
