Robbie Williams has been associated with clichés and mediocrity for a long time, and it isn't the most obvious choice of a remix, but the result speaks for itself. Taking a rather blunt pop song and transforming it into nothing short of a rave monster is truly an achievement! Williams' role is relatively small in this, but who cares about that when Soulwax are determined to take your party beyond all limits. Huge is still the only word I can think of.

From Wikipedia: After leaving Take That, Williams became more popular for his behavior and his boldness, but also for a controversial appearance in concert with rock band Oasis in Glastonbury, Somerset, UK in 1995. The episode was followed by an advertising campaign against drug and alcoholism, during which Williams was seen fed up, wearing grungy clothes and sporting a dirty beard. User generated content is not a new phenomenon. The expression has recently gained traction in the media as ordinary people start to publish their own content in prominent places. The Internet has made us all capable of transmitting our innermost thoughts to a world wide audience. Exhibit A: Live Journal! But the creative impulse has existed in our collective imagination long before YouTube. In the 80's, a cable channel decided to sponsor a contest called Make My Video, in which contestants were encouraged to send in their own video versions. I have a vivid memory of this special event on MTV. The artist was Madonna, and the track was True Blue. Disclaimer: This was probably my least favorite Madge single! For 24 hours, the VJ's presented a virtual smörgåsbord of video cliches. Any idiot with a dream and a camcorder could have their work broadcast on the music network that day. The actual winner was no big deal. In retrospect, the chaste teen love scenario depicted suited the twee nature of this pop song. So my expectations were low when it was announced that Robbie Williams would be updating this promotional trick for the millennium. Imagine my surprise when the official pick turned out to be an awesome representation of this song. And to bring everything full circle, the soundtrack is provided by his melancholy autobiographical rap The 80's. I have always been a sucker for a song that tells a good story. The lyrics create a memorable montage from his past indiscretions. It is no secret that I am still haunted by the glorious results of my own misspent youth. But I don't regret the foolish behavior I engaged in. I'm actually thankful that I was not a natural born control freak! The current version of me would never take the risks that my former self engaged in. For example, spending the rent money on a pair of designer shoes sounds glamorous, but you always live to regret it! And skipping down Broadway in a pair of neon hot shorts is not the action of a sane sensible adult person. However, the crazy choices resulted in the unforgettable situations I found myself in. It frequently lead to pain and suffering, but I think that's part of the process of growing up. So I won't bore you with a HRC-style "If I knew then, what I know now" declaration of remorse. If every event from your past adds to your current identity, than how can you subtract the unpleasant parts and still maintain your unique composition? Am I getting too metaphysical for you? In any case, this obscure album track mesmerized me when I first heard it. And now the poetry is set in motion! And keeping with the circle jerk of self-expression, I publish this post.

Das Ensemble, das sich in tiefster Inspirationslosigkeit und völlig ohne eigene Ideen oder auch nur den Hauch von Stil, den größten "Hits der 80er, 90er und von heute" widmete, schien in seiner technischen Ausstattung von allen Grand Prix Eurovision - Teilnehmern, die es jemals gegeben hat, unterstützt worden zu sein.
Wind- und Nebelmaschine sowie eine Armee von bunten Strahlern kamen quasi permanent zum Einsatz, während die 4 Sänger der Band sich abwechselten, Klone von "Wir sind Helden", den "Red Hot Chily Peppers", "Roxette" etc. zu werden.

Und wenn ich sage, die Band heizte ein, dann meine ich das so.
Nicht nur die abschließende Pyrotechnik, deren Einsatz mich dann kaum noch wunderte, auch die Bewegung der begeisterten Massen setzten jede Menge Energie frei.

War ich denn der letzte nicht geschmacksverirrte Mensch auf der Welt?

Es herrschte beste Festival-Stimmung. Nasse durchgeschwitzte Leiber rieben sich aneinander, kernige Outdoortypen machten ihre Oberkörper frei und pogten gemeinsam mit asiatischen Vertrieblern. Kühlende Schauer des in Hektolitern ausgeschenkten Freibiers ergossen sich nicht nur in die frenetisch gröhlenden Kehlen, sondern - mitsamt den Plastikbechern geworfen - auch auf die applaudierende Menge.

Vor Grauen war ich wie gelähmt, das alles war so abstoßend und widerlich - ich musste mich zitternd gegen eine Säule lehnen, konnte jedoch den Blick nicht abwenden.

Im furiosen Finale sang der Traum aller Dorftussis, ein blondgelockter durchtrainierter Bubi im weißen Dinnerjacket mit der Barbie-förmigen Sängerin das Duett zwischen Robbie Williams und Kylie Minogue nach. Gleich anschließend - nur mit einem schwarzen Ledermantel, der die bloße aufgepumpte Brust umspielte - konnte er sich beim Rammsteinkracher "du has(s)t mich" nochmal so richtig ins Zeug und in den Luftstrom der Windmaschine schmeißen, der seine Haarpracht ach so effektvoll zur Geltung brachte. Das nenne ich nicht variabel, das ist wohl eher wahllos.

Ich glaubte weder Augen noch Ohren zu trauen - hatte ich schon eine Überdosis Landluft? Halluzinationen wegen Abgas- und Feinstaubmangel?

Nein - alles war wahr und ich musste es erleben. Zum Glück konnte Chloe meinem entsetzten Gestammel entnehmen, dass dieses seltsame Schauspiel festgehalten werden musste und machte ein Foto. Nun habe ich für immer den Beweis, dass das kein schlechter Traum, sondern die Realität war und Stagediving bei Cover-Band-Konzerten möglich ist!
Dies ist nur ein weiteres Beispiel für die Ungerechtigkeit der Welt und die Dummheit der Menschen im Allgemeinen. Echte Künstler, die ihr Herzblut geben, eigene Songs schreiben und selbst kreativ sind, müssen lange im Jugendzentrum spielen, bis man sie auf eine so große Bühne lässt. Ob sie jemals soviel Zuspruch für ihre Kunst, für die Veräußerung ihres Innersten erhalten, wie diese Cover-Band für das bloße Nachäffen von so genannten Hits, ist fraglich. Ein sehr trauriger Gedanke!

Chloe versuchte mich aufzumuntern, indem sie mich auf das lustige Bild aufmerksam machte, das entstand, als zwei Cover-Band-Anhänger sich in den künstlichen See vor dem Veranstaltungsort erleichterten, während ein anderer Fan etwas weiter links seine müde getanzten Füße zur Erfrischung im gleichen See badete. Doch ich war untröstlich...

Letztendlich kann ich für mich selbst sagen, dass ich derartig extreme Performances überhaupt noch nicht erlebt hatte. Nicht nur nicht im Verein mit meiner lieben Freundin (und wir haben in den vergangen Jahren schon diversen seltsamen Schau- und Hörspielen beigewohnt), sondern niemals.
Chloe hingegen musste zerknirscht zugeben, dass ihr Leben in der Provinz sie doch etwas abgestumpft hatte, schließlich sei ihr erst nach meiner Erschütterung aufgefallen, dass auf sämtlichen ländlichen Festivitäten, die sie zu Integrationszwecken aufsucht, Cover-Bands aufspielten. Zu ihrer Entschuldigung sei gesagt: Chloe tanzt unwahrscheinlich gerne, so gerne, dass alles andere hinter diesem Wunsch zurücksteht. Das Zucken in ihren Beinen setzt bei nahezu jeder Form von einigermaßen harmonisch aneinandergereihten Tönen ein, sie ist wohl machtlos dagegen, gelobte aber Besserung.

The Olympics - Okay, Michael Phelps is awesome, and I think everyone should start a 12,000 calorie a day diet in his honour.  In other Olympic news, how freakin' boring is the track and field?  I know the 100m race was meant to be the most amazing race EVER, but I found it rather dull, especially the 500th time the BBC repeated it in slow motion.

Robbie Williams- One night last week, as I was drifting off to sleep, I heard a very strange radio programme on Radio 4.  At first I thought it was a strange dream, but then I woke myself up to listen to it properly, and it turned out I wasn't dreaming.  Robbie Williams recorded a radio show about him going to an alien convention in Nevada.  I'm not sure whether it was meant to be a comedy or not, but it featured Robbie being nice to a bunch a people who had some interesting views on outer-space and creatures from outer-space.  Actually, I was pretty freaked out by the whole programme.

The V Festival- What a line up: The Verve, Amy Winehouse, Kings of Leon!  Why I haven't seen any of those acts since...oh wait, they played nearly every festival this year.  Maybe it is simply the fact that there is more TV coverage this year of the festival season, but it feels like I am seeing the same faces and hearing the same songs again and again.  The Kaiser Chefs are quickly becoming the indie McFly.  It's a sad state of affairs when the performance I most enjoyed from this year's V was Travis.

"The Shock Of The Lightning," the first single from the forthcoming Oasis album Dig Out Your Soul, received its first airpaly on music radio stations all over the UK earlier today. I've heard the song, and it is good. It's certainly better than anything on the last Oasis album, the forgettable Don't Believe The Truth.

En la revista TVNOTAS lo captaron infraganti con su novio NICOLAS saliendo de la piscina de su casa, besándose y tocándose el trasero de forma muy grotesca.

Además estan Juan Gabriel, Silvia Navarro, Cristian Castro, Juan Jose Origel, Fabian Lavalle, Horacio Villalobos y... René Franco!!!!!, jajajajaja, no creo que es el único al que siempre se le acusa de ser gay y negarlo cuando no lo es. Hasta ahora el único "machito" en decir que si es gay abiertamente es Cristian Chavez, y eso que fué luego de que se publicaran unas fotos con su pareja.

Kommen wir mal zu den interessanten 10 %: Doppelgänger von Robbie Williams??? ...ich nannte Wayne Jackson ja an anderer Stelle scherzhaft The new and better Robbie Williams ...schauen wir uns die Sache mal etwas genauer an:

Robbie vs Wayne

1. Beide stammen aus - oder ungefähr aus Manchester...

Robbie William kommt aus Stoke-on-Trent dieses Örtchen ist nur irgendwie in der Nähe von Manchester. Dieser Punkt geht also eindeutig an Wayne Jackson.

2. Beide haben als Boygroup Mitglieder die weibliche Anhängerschaft zu diversen berühmtberüchtigten hysterischen  Schreien - Forenbeiträgen - Myspacekommentaren - ihrwisstschonwasichmeine gebracht.

Los Helmstedt ist unumstritten und objektiv gesehen die cooler Boygroup als Take That ...dieser Punkt geht also wieder an den in Berlin beheimateten Briten.

3. In Berlin zu wohnen ist ohne Zweifel viel cooler als nach L.A. auszuwandern.

Ihr wißt schon wer jetzt wieder nen Punkt bekommt.

4. Platz den die Herren in meinem CD-Regal einnehmen:

Robbie Williams...da stehen noch aus früheren Zeiten a) Intensive Care und b) Greatest Hits rum.

Wayne Jackson: a) ab Freitag wird The Long Goodbye nicht nur in meinem Regal stehen - sondern rauf und runter gespielt werden b) "Orange" von The Dostovevskys nur ein Wort *Liebe* c) Bingo von Bela B. ...ein sehr feines Album für meine besonderen Launen ... co-produziert, miteingespielt u. mitkomponiert von ...genau Wayne Jackson.

Wer rechnen kann weiß jetzt schon an wen dieser Punkt wieder geht.

5. Mitkomponiert und Miteingespielt führt zu Folgendem:

Wayne Jackson ist ein begnadeter Songwriter und hat auf The Long Goodbye fast alle Instrumente selbst gespielt.

Robbie Williams war zu geizig den begnadeten Songwriter an seiner Seite angemessen an den finanziellen Erlösen zu beteiligen und hat dann zur Strafe für sich und alle anderen - ohne Guy Chambers eines der schlimmsten Albem überhaupt rausgebracht (Rudebox).

Führt rein mathematisch zu : 3 weitere Punkte für Wayne Jackson u. - 3 Punkte für Robbie Williams.

6. Wayne Jackson sieht besser aus als Robbie Williams....

7. Um wenigstens ein bißchen den Eindruck zu erwecken, ich sei eine unparteiliche Schiedrichterin dieses Matches:

Ein Punkt für Robbie Williams...weil er ...hm...reicher und berühmter ist ??? Naja wenigstens schon auch ein famoser Entertainer. Wobei - wer Wayne Jackson schon live erlebt hat ... der weiß ... dieser auch ... aber Robbie ist halt ein wenig geübter ;-)

Robbie bekommt jetzt auch nen Punkt. So halt!

8. Last but not least: Die Stimme

Wie ich schon auf der über uns Seite schrieb: Ich verliebe mich in Stimmen... und diese ist das besondere Kapital von Wayne Jackson. Markant, unverwechselbar mit dem besondere Timbre und der Gabe Emotionen zu transportieren ohne aufgesetzt oder überkandidelt zu wirken. Meloncholie und Sehnsucht die immer wieder wohltuend ironisch gebrochen werden und auch Kuschelrock-Hassern Gänsehaut bescherrt. Diese kommt dann auch besonders bei seinen accoustischen Aufnahmen zur Geltung... aber dazu später.

Robbie singt auch ganz gut ...nur dessen Stärken liegen offensichtlich eher auf der Entertainerebene. Versönlich sag ich mal hier: Ich hab in meinem Leben auch schon viel Robbie Williams gehört ... aber man wird ja mit dem Alter reifer und anspruchsvoller.

Ich erspar mir jetzt die Mühe, die Punkte zusammen zu zählen:

Ein Blick in meine Last.Fm Charts zeigt : The Long Goodbye ist für mich das Album 2008 und ich gehöre zu den Fans, die ein Jahr lang mitgebangt haben ... köpfschüttelnt ob der unsäglichen Label Politik von Four Music und Columbia/ SonyBmg.

Die einzige Kritik, die ich an dem Werk habe: Manchmal ist es ein bißchen zu viel des Guten und mancher Track scheint ein Wenig überproduziert. Die ein oder andere Soundlayer hier der andere Chor da wäre meiner Ansicht nach mehr gewesen.

Wenn Bands ins Studio gehen gibts nicht selten Auseinandersetzungen - da will der Gitarrist hier nochwas hinzufügen - der Sänger protestiert weil dann die Stimme zu sehr in den Hintergrund gerät und der Songwriter schreit weil die pure Schönheit des Liedes von all den Inspirationen seiner Mitmusiker in den Schatten gestellt wird. Hier ist es für die Zukunft zu wünschen, dass der Sänger u. Songwriter Wayne Jackson sich in Zukunft besser gegen die in ihm lebenden Gitarristen, Bassisten, Pianisten und Soundeffekttüftler durchsetzt.
Sehr sehr gerne würde ich dann auch möglichst bals ein unplugged Album des Herrn mein eigen nennen. Seine Qualitäten kommen besonders in den akkustischen live Aufnahmen zur Geltung. Mein absolutes Lieblingslied ist The Storm (live) .

Jag är viss om änglars närvaro: deras lekfullhet, vishet & och önskan om att bistå med stöd.
Också att de skickar små meddelanden och hälsningar. och förmedlar en oändlig kärlek.

Ja fa uns mesos visualitzava un documental sobre el britpop dels 90, Oasis, Blur, Suede, Elastica... de com va pujar i baixar tota la moguda en menys d'una dècada. En un dels talls del documental, la vocalista d'Elastica i Damon Albarn, homònim dels Blur, reconeixen que l'aparició de Robbie amb el primer single, la balada Angels, els va fer adonar que tot el que s'havia montat al voltant d'ells estava finalitzant. A partir d'aleshores la gent es volcaria a pujar al número 1 de les llistes a l'ex-Take That. L'era Robbie Williams s'encetava i els Oasis aguantarien amb més pena que glòria alguns anys més.

Veure els protagonistes acceptar i visualitzar un canvi de cicle que els afectava plenament i que decididament els deixava fora de joc em va sobtar. Avui em pregunto, on és Robbie Williams?. Em sembla que no l'erro gaire si accepto que des de ja fa mesos hem entrat en un altre cicle on Amy Winehouse, Mika o James Blunt en són alguns dels protagonistes. Robbie Williams havia aguantat l'embranzida i durant alguns mesos ha conviscut amb els seus relleus. Com a bon fan no vull acceptar la desaparició de Williams, si més no em quedarà que em va entretenir uns bons anys. Sempre podrà tornar a fer alguna gira, sense cap necessitat de treure disc nou. Els Police acaben de finalitzar el World Tour, han cobrat i cap a casa.
