Visas Rīgas Dinamo spēles mēs parādīt nevarēsim. Noteikti rādīsim visas 26 mājas spēles un ceram translēt kluba augstākā līmeņa izbraukuma spēles," saka LTV7 direktors Arnis Kuprišs. Jau rīt LTV7 varētu pārraidīt otro Rīgas Dinamo spēli, kas tiks aizvadīta Habarovskā ar Amur vienību.

Hunter's suspension for the second leg of this relegation/promotion decider, together with the slenderness of victory by an own goal, made it understandable that Jim Duffy should question the virtues of the play-off system. No doubt Alex MacDonald was more optimistic of Airdrie's chances and satisfied with his side's ability to niggle and rile their opponents.

Although this ended up being Hibs' biggest win of a grim season they achieved it the hard way, going a goal down in the first minute and surviving a penalty miss by Airdrie later in the first half.

This was never going to be an uneventful match, and with a further three penalties awarded and Jimmy Sandison sent off for elbowing near the end it lived up to expectation. Darren Jackson scored two of the penalties for Hibs to secure the tie and Hibs survival in the Premier League.

It was the end of Jackson's Hibs career, however, sold to Celtic for £1.25million in the summer. His return to Edinburgh two years later to play for Hearts completed his transformation from hero to villain. Keith Wright had also played his last game for Hibs at the age of 32, and Jim Leighton was lured back to Aberdeen by the offer of a player-coach role at his first club.

Perhaps they also saw the writing on the wall in this nerve-shredding brush with relegation.

What record would you consider "sufficient progress" in the coming season?

I agree with Todd on this one. There are seven games that should go down as definite or probable W's (Tulane, Western Kentucky, Arkansas, Kentucky, Ole Miss, Arkansas State, and Mississippi State). That leaves the five of Clemson, UGA, Tennessee, LSU, and Auburn. To show "sufficient progress" to me, the team has to win two of those games. So I guess my answer would be 9-3. Is Alabama going to be scary young in spots? Yes, but I'm tired of making excuses.

Does college football need a playoff? Why?

Heck to the no! While I am a proponent, although not a strong one, of the Plus-1, I don't want to see college football do anything that would even hint at taking away from the pure awesomeness of the regular season. If there were a playoff, would anyone outside of West Virginia and Pennsylvania watched the WV-Pitt game last year? Not many, because WV already had their ticket punched to the playoffs as the winner of the Big East. And to the ones that say a playoff would crown a true national champ, gimme a break. There are 117 teams (I think) in D1-A that play twelve games a year, and you're telling me an 8 or even 16 team playoff would crown a true champ? And speaking of that, there's no way the playoffs would stop at just 8 teams. It'd keep growing and growing, and then the regular season would be shot.

If you're an Alabama fan and a native Alabamian, then more than likely you became a fan sometime between conception and the cutting of the cord, but what moment do you remember best as being "the moment" that you became an active participant in your fandom?

My mother has told me that as a three-year-old, I would sit in my father's lap and watch an entire football game and not move. Around age five or six, I slept with an Alabama tobogan on my head every night. Even in the summer. But the first game that I truly remember watching was Bear Bryant's last as coach, the '82 Liberty Bowl. I remember the players carrying Bryant across the field on their shoulders, and the announcers making a huge deal about the moment.

Then, less than a month later, I remember hearing the news about his death, and watching his funeral procession on TV. I remember being in awe at the sheer number of people that lined the highway just to get a view of the hearse. That's when it hit me. This man, who had touched so many people - countless more indirectly than directly - coached my team. And the obsession started.

What rule change would you most like see implemented?

This has always bugged me. Let's say a team has the ball inside their opponent's ten yardline. OK, any penalty (not counting PI in the end zone) on the defense is half the distance to the goal. Well, if the defense can not be penalized the correct corresponding distance of the penalty, the offense shouldn't either. If the ball is at the eight, and the offense is called for holding, step off four yards instead of ten. OK, I know it's not that big of a deal, but it really gets on my nerves.

The Garden is on FIRE! The Celtics are physically beating the Lakers on the rebounds and the knocking down back to back threes. Zero offensive rebounds for the Lakers so far, and eight for the Celtics, that's the difference in this game at the moment. Where's Kobe now? And all the other westcoasters for that matter? 'Cause when the Celtics are teaming up around Kobe somebody has to get open.

Hehe, Fisher is chasing that ball with no respect for his own, or the cameramens' life. Second timeout in a very short period from Phil Jackson, but they need it, if they can't stop this Celtic run soon, they're gone.

Ray Allen is back, good to see that it wasn't serious.

And it was the same in this game too, he put down trees with hands in his face, when he was bumped, looked totally unstoppable. If LA are going to win on the road he needs to play on that level, but will he?. However so far the other lakers have not looked unstoppable, Gasol totally invisible except when he turned the ball over to the Celtics. But the Celtics are struggling with their shooting in the beginning. Especially Rondo but I like the fact that he is in attackmode, and he showed some nice moves, and four steels so far, gotta like that. I wonder when Ray Allen will be back, he is vital for the Celtics offense with his 3-point reach. This is a fun game!

When the Celtics is playing at their best, they are the best. I can't see how the Lakers can win three straight games, two of those in the garden in Boston

39 points in the first, 16 in the second. All of it because of the Celtics defense. I has been said so many times before, but defense wins championship.

Bryant shut out in the second! But to his credit he made some key assists.

There were a lot of contact in that half, and I love it. There could almost be called a foul on every possession, play-off basketball at its best.

By the way, ouch! The foul on Fisher where he crashed into the camera man, that got to have hurt, and I've seen fighters in the ring go down for a lot less, but he's a fighter and got up and still plays some good basketball

What's to do for the second quarter, the Celtics must stop turning the ball over to limit the transition points and play better defence. They're good on Kobe, but seem to be forgetting everyone else. 22 points in the first is ok, but letting the Lakers score 39 is just no ok. For the Lakers, just continue doing what they're doing already, and stay out of foul trouble.

Por estas fechas, en el 2005, ElPozo veía escapar su tercera final de liga consecutiva, tras perder por 3-6 en el cuarto partido de la final ante el -por entonces- Boomerang Interviú, que otorgaba una dolorosa despedida a Paulo Roberto del Palacio de los Deportes. Tras aquel año, y con la retirada de Paulo y el fichaje de Lenisio por Polaris World Cartagena, la afición murciana se lamentaba pensando que ElPozo iba a quedarse entonces muy lejos de disputar siquiera una nueva final. Sin embargo, no sólo consiguió jugar las dos siguientes, sino también hacerse con el título en ambas ocasiones, arrebatando a Interviú su hegemonía, al menos en territorio nacional.

A pesar de ello, los madrileños no cegaron en su empeño de hacer honor a su palmarés, que los ensalza claramente como el mejor equipo de la historia. Así, con continuas incorporaciones de renombre y el trabajo incansable del veterano Jesús Candelas, diez años al frente de Interviú, la 'máquina verde' logró varios títulos a lo largo de las dos pasadas temporadas, entre ellos la Copa de España y la Intercontinental. Pero no ha sido hasta esta 2007/08 cuando han logrado hacerse con su octava liga, derrotando en la final al único equipo que ha osado hacerle sombra durante al menos el último lustro, ElPozo Murcia Turística.

Y lo han hecho tras no dar opción a los murcianos, ni en el partido disputado en Murcia el pasado sábado ni en el de esta tarde en el Pabellón Caja Madrid de Alcalá de Henares. ElPozo, flamante campeón de liga regular, con la consabida racha de 28 partidos de liga sin perder -y a la que puso fin Interviú en el primer partido de la final- se ha reencontrado con la impotencia de aquellos años en los que siempre llegaba a la final, y siempre acababa dándose de bruces contra el frontón verde.

El encuentro de hoy se puso muy de cara a los madrileños, con un 3-0 inicial, reducido a un 3-2 por los murcianos a poco de llegar al descanso. No obstante, ya se habían manifestado algunas de las claves en las que basa Interviú su efectividad: el contraataque, la rapidez, y ante todo, la sorpresa. Y es que los verdes tienen la extraña facultad de fabricar un gol de la ocasión más imprevisible.

Tras la pausa, los madrileños se volvieron a marchar, colocando un 5-2 a falta de diez minutos, y haciendo que Duda no se pensara la salida de Mauricio como portero-jugador. Ahí llegó la locura. Vinicius lograba de penalti el 5-3, pero en la siguiente jugada Joan reestablecía la diferencia, y seguidamente nada menos que Luis Amado lograba el séptimo desde su propia portería. Con Mauricio todo el tiempo como quinto hombre, Álvaro apelaba a la épica logrando el 7-4, mas al poco Joan mataba casi definitivamente la final con el octavo tanto madrileño. Volvería Álvaro a marcar, pero el 8-5 acabó siendo definitivo. Interviú vuelve a reinar en España.

La primera consecuencia de todo esto es que los madrileños serán los representantes españoles en la próxima UEFA Futsal Cup, mientras que ElPozo quedará relegado a disputar la Recopa de Europa. Esta causa puede hacer lamentar una vez más a los de Duda el haber desaprovechado la oportunidad de ganar la Futsal las dos últimas temporadas. Pero en fin, como reza la cita, nunca es tarde si la dicha es buena.

Rondo played good, but needs to take the good looks that he is getting. And that goes for almost everyone on the celtics team. They have good ball movement, but sometimes they pass to much and don't settle for the easy plays.

For the Lakers, Kobe did step up a little in the second half, but Gasol and Fisher were quiet. They need to play at the level they did in the first half.

Celtics made some really important 3 pointers, not only Pierce's but when the game was on the line they executed, as opposed to the Lakers.

As said before the Lakers could not execute when then needed to, and that in combination with the fact that the Celtics was more physical and won the rebound game is why the Lakers lost this game.

Anyway time to sleep for me now, since the clock is 6 a.m. and I've almost been awake around the clock. So forgive me if stuff I write doesn't make sense.

It's even, but Boston are having some foul trouble and that led to a surge by the Lakers late in the second quarter, which led to their lead at half-time. The best player so far must be KG, he's been great, but he should take more shots, only 9  in the half. For the Laker I think that Fisher has been best in the first. or Pau Gasol who showed some good hands and put up twelve  points in half.

For the second half, Celtics must keep their stars on the floor, no unnecessary fouls. For the Lakers look out for Kobe, he had a quite quiet first half, but if he needs to he can step up and play on a higher level.

So now it's time for the NBA finals, and it's huge, the rivarly is back! I wish I could be there and watch it. Cause at least for me it's the dream final, especially after this season with Kobe as MVP and Boston's season with 65 wins in the regular season. It's simple the best team from the east and the west. And this final got so much in it, will Kobe be able to win without the Big Diesel up front. And the  big three in Boston isn't getting any younger so if they want to win now it's the time. Anyway, there are so many articles out there allready cover every possible inch of the final, so just let me get down to my picks. I've got to go with my heart on this one, and that means:

Celtics after seven intense and awesome games.

That's what I wish for most, that the series will go the distance and we will get to see the worlds best basketball.

Anyway, the Lidstrom and the gang took the cup back to hockey town. Not that big surprise, they have been the best team, in my mind, the entire season. It's good that after two years of coming 4th in the world hockey championship and having a lot of problems here in europe to finally see some Swedes win something outside of Sweden in hockey. But the Penguins will win, and they will win alot, if they can keep their key players.

No ha sido una temporada sencilla para la escuadra vitoriana. Salidas nocturnas, desaveniencias entre entrenador y jugadores, dos finales perdidas,... El TAU se colaba en la final ACB sin ser uno de los favoritos para adjudicarse el título y con una autoridad inapelable ha manejado la serie a la perfección y ha puesto un buen colofón a una temporada irregular.

Se acabaron las pesadillas, las amargas decepciones del subcampeonato en 2006 y 2006. Ahora sí; el Tau es el merecido campeón de la ACB.  Y ya son 12 títulos (dos ligas ACB) los que ocupan las vitrinas del Buesa Arena.

De la misma manera que hiciera en 2002, con una sorprendente similitud, el conjunto baskonista se adjudica el título imponiéndose por 0-3, superando el factor cancha en contra (sólo el Tau puede presumir de ganar los 3 primeros partidos de la serie sin el factor cancha), habiendo logrado el 4º puesto en la temporada regular, y lo más curioso, dejando en la cuneta a los mismos 3 equipos (aunque con diferente orden): Pamesa Valencia, Unicaja y Barcelona.

En lo deportivo, el TAU cierra una de las mejores campañas de su historia a pesar de haber perdido dos finales: la Copa del REy en casa frente al Joventut, y la Final Four, que se resiste por cuarta campaña consecutiva. Ha jugado todas las finales posibles, 4. Comenzó la temporada como en los 3 años anteriores. ganando la Supercopa, y concluye el curso poniendo la guinda al pastel: el segundo títuto ACB.

En lo referente a temas extradeportivos, la entidad vitoriana ha vivido una temporada llena de sobresaltos, comenzando con el supuesto matrimonio convenido de Will McDonald, pasando por los rifi-rafes de Spahija con sus jugadores, y terminando con el accidente de Miraflores. Un handicap que habrá que mejorar de cara a la 2008/09.

Tras las merecidas celebraciones, Joxean Kerejeta deberá finalizar la planificación de la temporada que viene. En las próximas fechas el club hará oficial la continuidad de Tiago Splitter, que aplaza momentaneamente su marcha a la NBA. Habrá que ver que ocurre con el técnico Neven Spahija, aunque se ha ganado la confianza del presidente y de la afición vitoriana. Y por supuesto, el Tau debe poner toda la carne en el asador por Pete Mickeal que termina contrato este mes. El estadounidense se ha hecho con el MVP de la final y novias no le faltarán este verano. Habrá que hecharle el lazo.

Los baskonistas demostraron en el Palau que en el juego interior son muy superiores a los de Xavi Pascual, y hoy puede ser de nuevo la llave para conseguir la victoria. Si en el primero fue Tiago Splitter quién amartilló el aro local, en el segundo el Barça tampoco pudo parar a Pete Mickeal (20 puntos, 30 valoración).

La defensa se antoja, asimismo, decisiva. Los vitorianos han sabido mantener a raya a Lacovic y Acker, dos jugadores que venían marcando unos registros determinantes en estos play-offs. Mantener la concentración durante los 40 minutos y continuar con esa mentalidad de sacrificio, puede ser la clave para el TAU.

El conjunto blaugrana, sin embargo, necesita ganar 3 encuentros seguidos para culminar una temporada con más penas que glorias a pesar de haber logrado el billete para la próxima Euroliga. La afición culé tienes puestas todas sus esperanzas en el turco Ilyasova, que ha sido el único jugador junto a Grimau que ha salvado los muebles en este play-off final ACB. Los catalanes tienen las estadisticas a favor: 4 victorias en 5 últimas visitas a la cancha vitoriana.

Los baskonistas se juegan en el Buesa Arena su cuarta final de la temporada. Comenzaron con buen pie levantando la Supercopa en Bilbao, pero tras perder la Copa del Rey en casa y quedarse sin opciones en la Final Four, quieren ofrecer una nueva satisfación a su afición y poner el colofón a una temporada irregular.

Nunca en la historia ACB un equipo ha superado un 2 a 0 adverso en la final (Unicaja remontó ese balance en cuartos de final del 2005 contra el Etosa) y el TAU no quiere  entrar en los anales de la historia como víctima.

Suele pasar que en el momento menos oportuno para que ocurra algo, ese algo tiene lugar. Así fue este sábado tras la derrota, después de 28 partidos oficiales de liga, de ElPozo Murcia Turística frente a Interviú Fadesa, en el primer partido de la final. Ahora, la eliminatoria se desplaza al pabellón Caja Madrid de Alcalá de Henares, y en caso de que los de Jesús Candelas ganen de nuevo, volverán a ser campeones tres años después, erigiéndose una vez más como el enemigo público número uno de los murcianos.

Del partido disputado en el Palacio de los Deportes, se puede destacar, como otras tantas veces, ese axioma de que el que mucho perdona acaba pagándolo caro. Como caro fue el precio que pagaron los murcianos por su escaso acierto de cara a portería. Por su parte, el primer zapatazo madrileño acabó en la escuadra del portal de Juanjo, a los dos minutos de juego. Aún está el guardameta ciezano buscando por dónde entró el magnífico lanzamiento del brasileño Marquinho, desde fuera del área y sin apenas visión.

Como si nada hubiera pasado, ElPozo buscaba el gol con todo su ahínco. Pero todo el esfuerzo llegó a su punto máximo de inutilidad tras un nuevo tanto visitante, obra de Joan en el minuto 9, un gol de pillo tras aprovechar el pase de Jordi Torras. Y así, con continuas acometidas murcianas que siempre veían fin en las manos de Luis Amado, se llegó al fin de la primera mitad. Escaso margen, aunque no tanto cuando se tiene enfrente a la 'máquina verde'.

Tras la pausa, se hacía necesario acortar cuanto antes la ventaja de Interviú. Duda acertó sacando al canterano Raúl Manjón, que aportó un extra de velocidad al juego murciano, en ocasiones demasiado previsible. El acoso continuaba, al igual que el desatino. Así que, a falta de diez minutos para el final, los madrileños se cobraron una vez más el continuo perdón de ElPozo. Fue Schumacher quien remató el pase de Gabriel y colocó el 0-3 en el marcador. Llegaba entonces el momento de recordar los dos partidos de liga regular, en que ElPozo remontó e igualó 'in-extremis' un 1-4 en la ida y un 4-1 en la vuelta. Pero esta vez no caería la breba.

Quedando cinco minutos, con idéntico resultado, Mauricio se enfundó la camiseta blanca de quinto hombre. Ni por esas. El frontón verde apenas dejaba opciones de peligro, y sólo hizo aguas a falta de 14 segundos para el final, con el 1-3 de Álvaro, que de poco servía para evitar el fiasco pocero. Así se llegó al final del encuentro, para tristeza de la afición murciana. No obstante, no está todo perdido ni mucho menos, y con devolver la moneda a Interviú el próximo sábado bastará para llegar a un tercer y definitivo encuentro, a disputar en el Palacio. Entonces sí, el factor cancha habría de resultar decisivo.
