Olympus has introduced another tough digital camera with its Stylus 1030SW. They claim it can handle a drop from 6.6 feet, a dunk in water 33 feet deep, temperatures as low as 14 degrees Fahrenheit, and crushing weight of up to 220 pounds. The 10.1-megapixel 1030SW improves upon its predecessor, the 770SW, with increased shock absorption capabilities, more resolution, a slightly larger LCD screen, and a longer 3.6x optical zoom lens.
Sporting a sleek metal body in a choice of Starry Silver, Midnight Black or Metal Pink, waterproof line-up to everyone. Waterproof to 3m, shockproof to 1.5m, and freeze proof to -10°C, this camera is ready for the bumps and bangs of everyday life. In conjunction with its tough exterior, the µ [mju:] 850 SW boasts a hearty 8.0 Mega pixels to guarantee the flawless capture of every detail. Digital Image Stabilization is also on board to reduce blur. For framing flexibility, a 3x optical zoom (equivalent to 38-114mm on a 35mm camera) gets you in close, and the large 2.5"/6.4cm LCD makes it easy to quickly preview and review shots. In addition, an LED Macro Illuminator is available for enhancing shots of close-up subjects during macro photography.

Shooting outdoors in bright daylight can be tricky because of the extreme contrast between dark shadowed areas and bright sunlit areas. While the human eye is capable of detecting the nuances between dark and light and all the details in between, image sensors traditionally have not been quite as sensitive. The Stylus 1030 SW addresses this challenge head-on with Shadow Adjustment Technology, which compensates for extreme contrast where the shadow areas are underexposed and lack visible detail. With this technology, users can preview and capture images with the same contrast as the naked eye.

Finally, the camera's least impressive spec: it's freeze proof to 14 degrees Fahrenheit. Besides being a feat that most other cameras seem to handle just fine, handling a mere 14 degrees Fahrenheit is truly nothing to brag about anywhere north of the 45th parallel.

Although the 1030 SW has not yet been introduced in retail stores (it will debut in early March), Olympus has already announced it will carry a $399 price tag when it shows up. While that's a pretty petty more than similar point-and-shoot cameras with the same resolution, the Olympus' underwater capability alone justifies the expense if you plan on using it, since standalone enclosures can run over $150 easily. So, whether you're a klutz or a born risk taker, you may want to further investigate the Stylus 1030 SW to save yourself from another painful camera casualty. Olympus Stylus 1030 SW Features:-

Digital SLR cameras prices like the Olympus evolt e510 start at 500 dollars and go up as you cram more features into the camera and choose higher end lenses. The Olympus evolt e510 is packed with features that are seen only in cameras that cost 1000 dollars and more yet the e510 cost less than 600 dollars.

What are these features? Here are two that are very unique at the Olympus evolt e510 price point. Image stabilization is one feature. The evolt 510 implements image stabilization in the camera body and not in the lens. This implementation has its advantages and disadvantages but it is a great choice for the e510 price point. Since the image stabilizer is implemented in the camera body it can be used with any lens. In other word no matter what lens you choose to mount on the camera you will be able to enjoy the image stabilization feature. Image stabilization can also be implemented by using a mechanical gyro mechanism implemented inside the lens itself. While it has its advantages its biggest disadvantage is cost. Such implementation is more expensive and also means that any lens mounted that does not have an image stabilizer in it will not enjoy image stabilization.

Image stabilization is an important feature if you plan to use high value zoom lenses. When taking high zoom photos every small camera movement is translated to a large movement of the photo projected on the camera CCD and thus the result of every such movement is a blurred photo. Image stabilization solves this by automatically compensating for such movement and thus virtually eliminating them.

The second great feature in the Olympus 510 is what is known as live LCD view. Digital SLR cameras use a single lens reflex mechanism. In other word a mirror sends the light from the lens to either the viewfinder or the camera CCD when the shutter is pressed. For that reason digital SLR forces the photographer to use the view finder for digital photo composition. Unlike pocket cameras that allow using the LCD to compose photos with digital SLR the LCD is used only for browsing the camera menus and setup and for post viewing photos that were already taken.

New digital SLR cameras solved the problem by either including another small CCD built-into the viewfinder or by implementing a mechanism that diverts a small portion of the light to the CCD while most of the light still goes to the viewfinder. Regardless of the implementation the result is that with such Digital SLR cameras you can use the LCD to preview photos and compose digital photos.

Live LCD view is usually found in high end expensive camera but the Olympus evolt e510 surprises again as it sports this feature as well as many other features in a low and affordable price.

Esta foto me parecio algo que tenia que sacar encuanto vi este extraño vehiculo motorizado. Es tan tan raro y diferente que hasta parece bonito.

Tirada a 14mm con un 14-42mm (equivalente 28-84 en 35mm) intentando potenciar todabia mas la diferencia de tamaño entre la rueda delantera y las traseras. La apertura es de f/6,3 para que salieran enfocados los reflejos del plastico negro.

La pegatina me pareció curiosa y decidi sacarle una foto muy rapida denoche ISO100 y sin Flash...Baja calidad total.

As I got back the sunset was fading and the area of the actual sunset was clouded in so there were just areas of light clouds out and around like these over the house.

Off in the south west there was one little area where the sky was painted, the pictures really don't capture it.

This one is a blurred but what is weird is the way the stamens swirl counter clockwise and have no normal ends on them.

Another sap pic the droplets on this tree are growing and I think I like this one best of several from the other day because I like the way the droplets are at different levels.  Obviously something I have no control over :-)

I think this is considered a noxious weed but they are pretty cool none the less.

The moon is almost full, when I turned from the sunset it was right between the power lines.

We have a circus rose that we thought had died then it came back last year but didn't flower now this year it had this red bloom that is clearly not a circus rose so the root must have been what survived and the circus was on the root stock of a simple red rose.  That is ok with us we like red roses too.

One group of daisies was kind of beat up and eaten so this little guy may be the culprit.

When I was out back there were a couple little hummers by the feeder, my camera can focus fast enough to catch them in the air, but they decided to sit a spell today.

Elaine, the last of our Cavalier King Charles Spaniels, followed me into the yard today.  She is 13, and three of the others died at 13, her mother, her brother and her sister.  13 is old for this breed, so there may not be much time left to capture her image.

When I went to down down at the bottom of cat creek there were a couple of horses on the loose.  All of the horses that live down there all seemed to be where they belonged this one stopped to look at me but the other wouldn't and the other looked kind of tattered it hadn't been brushed down so it had a few clumps of winter hair and the main was a tangled mess.  When I went by the house that has the most horses no one was home so I don't know where these horses belong.

For some reason the turkey and deer always seem to come around the house at the same times   The turkey had some little ones with them it was hard to get a picture of them because the back yard is full of plants bigger than they are so you just see these little brownish specks of movement.

A couple does showed up and then a few minutes later a buck was with them

He was leaning over the little fence trying to eat some leaves off our apricot tree so I said "hey buck, stop eating that tree, it's off limits" and he turned to look at me and I wondered if he may have been the same buck that was nibbling off the bird feeder early last winter.  Then he tried to nible again and I had to tell him not to again then he wandered away.

We've been getting afternoon thunderstorms so hopefully that will bring back my sunsets since we have had so few for weeks on end.  This one was kind of ho hum though.

I went down to the end of Doc Adams to watch the sunset and there had been some lingering thunder storms.   After I took these photos I turned around and Pagosa Peak had a squall line passing that was lit up by the sunset.

Here is a Panorama of the pass area it is amazingly beautiful up there, there was a little lake I could see down hill a little ways.  I would love to head back up to this point for a day trip on a nice day for photos.  It's about 100 miles or so from home so it could be a leisurely day trip.

We stopped in Ouray at the visitor's center and right off the parking lot is the Ouray hot springs pool.  One time when I lived in Paonia we were down in the pool in Ouray and the Big Horn sheep came down and were grazing right outside the pool fence it was really cool.

Leaving Ouray up Red Mountain Pass the road is scary, if you don't like heights, it is thin and curvy and it drops off right at the white line with no guard rails, there is no place to stop and take a picture of that.  If there was, there may be fewer tourists that may traverse is!  Once you get past the scary part though it is gorgeous.  Before you get to the scary part there is a couple places to pull over and over look the town.  There are a couple waterfalls close to town but it was already getting late enough that we didn't have time to stop and wander.  We had three passes to go over before reaching home.  The road between Ouray and Durango over the tree passes is called the Million Dollar Highway.  Now if they would add a few thousand worth of guard rails LOL

When we arrived in Paonia, a town I used to live in with me ex-husband, we headed up to our old orchard which online said it still offered U-pick.  They had hours posted online and we were excited to see the place.  When we got there no one was around and the place had been trashed.  They changed the name from Valley View Orchards to the Name First Fruits, a name they had already from owning an orchard down in the valley below.  It was shocking and broke my heart to see the state of the orchard and home.  The log home was not being cared for, there was an old car on the lawn, the weeds were overgrown everywhere.  The orchards had been planted so the threes were so close together that the soil couldn't possible support that density.  The barn that we had repaired and painted still said Valley View Orchards as I had painted it, and the door was falling off the hinges. 

There was no one around and no sales or U-pick of any kind going on but no notice that they were not open no indication they had ever been selling fruit there.  I guess I should have gotten out and taken some pictures but I was too upset.  We had purchased the orchard from an old couple whose family had owned the property for over 100 years.  We felt a responsibility with that to honor the commitment of that family to this sacred piece of land and to know that who my ex sold it to trashed the place like this was like a knife in the heart. 

We left and went to another orchard and got some cherries my brother asked the woman if she knew what had happened up there and she didn't but directed him to one of the guys in the processing building so he went over to chat.  He it turns out had worked at valley view and lived there for a while after the previous owner had a stroke and was wanting to find a way to buy it when we happened along.  He said the current owners are buying up everything and they are not taking care of any of their places or equipment.  He was also upset about it.  He said they were not doing u-pick or selling up there because they had too much to take care of to have anyone up there running things.  They of course couldn't be bother to put up a sign saying they were not open for the year!!  He said they were taking the organic cherries up to Aspen and Boulder and selling for 8-9 dollars a pound.  I bet if the folks up in Aspen who believe in organic and sustainable agriculture would be shocked and dismayed at the way these people live on the land and "care" for the organic land they care take.

Heartsick from the whole thing, I took almost no photos for this whole section of the trip The orchard we went to was beautiful right by the river.  As we were driving out of town I realized I had taken no photos and pulled over for this one.

Kini Casio mengandalkan kemampuan lensa wide zoom 4x optiknya untuk bersaing di kelas kamera tipis ini, disamping adanya fitur kompresi H.264 pada movie modenya yang beresolusi 848 x 480 (WVGA) untuk efisiensi kapasitas file video. Namun kemampuan Pentax dalam mendesain lensa yang ringkas dalam bodi kamera yang tipis telah membuat banyak pihak kagum hingga ada beberapa merk kamera yang mengadopsi lensa Pentax dalam bodinya (seperti Casio dan Benq). Kini Pentax meluncurkan satu lagi kamera tipis dengan lensa zoom 3x optikal. Mencoba bersaing di kancah kamera saku tipis nan modis, Pentax membekali A40 ini dengan sensor 12 MP dan sistem stabilizer, menjadikan kamera tipis ini cukup percaya diri untuk bersaing dengan merk lainnya. digitl is weird it gives you weird shaped photos the ratio is weird...

on my way home from work, i stopped and took these.

black and white version, i like this one. 

and a view from the apartment, this is what we see from our patio. i was trying long exposure shots. this was like a 30 second exposure. i think it turned out rad i should print this on 11x17... i tried to print this from our plotter and it looked pretty good im sure it would be awesome on photo paper. 

only thing this thing has noise in it. i was going to try and clean it up, ill probally do that later. but noise is awful its all about grain. 

this was at lunch today he was content reading his paper ignoring everyone around him. just enjoying his lunch and the paper...

and just random cloud formations i liked, it was hot and bright the clouds were flowing.
