Every day on the bus, I spend my time staring out the window and thinking of shit I'm going to write on a blog, before going to spend the day getting shouted at by what is blessedly a minority of customers because some people still think that queues in a bank are a rare occurrence and an excuse to scream and stamp their little footsies. I should probably kill myself. Other people use the time to write the blog posts, like this dude. If I can find a WordPress client in Java for phones I might use it. It's either that or Twitter, which I've never got into because I'm not the sort of dickend who creams himself over such silly bullshit.

BUT I CAN DO BETTER. TONIGHT IS "I'M GOING TO POST RANDOM SONG LYRICS IN MY FACEBOOK STATUS TEXT EVEN WHEN THOSE SONGS HAVE NO LYRICS" NIGHT. I'm not drunk, but this was another idea I thought up on the bus, and I wasn't drunk then either, so this is real me talking. OH GOD. Prepare for some lyrical attacks!

Cette école était vraiment bien : c'est le genre "petite école de quartier toute petite et conviviale" ; pas comme à Marseille où c'était plutôt le genre "grande école primaire-collège où les grands mettent la tête des petits dans la cuvette des toilettes et les surveillants s'en fichent royalement" XD.

D'autre part, j'ai récemment eu une petite discussion sur MSN avec une amie d'enfance, et ça fait toujours plaisir d'avoir de ses nouvelles de temps en temps (^^).

Enfin bon, pourquoi s'appesantir sur le passé et le bon vieux temps quand un tas d'emmerdes n'attendent que vous dans le présent XD !

Since October 1st that has all changed. Since then I've started working in a new role as Digital Media Communications Manager for all Windows Consumer brands - PC, mobile and online - as well as MSN and Live Search in EMEA. I got to say, it's like getting paid to do your hobby just like Steve seems to think about his job as well. And it's also the reason why this blog has gone silent for a bit, as I'm still transitioning stuff from my old job to other people. Also our fiscal year started on July 1st so I got to get my new plans ready asap, expect more about that here soon.

Anyway, I've been waiting for the moment I could tell you all this, wish me luck and if ever you have ideas on how you think I should run this... let me know in the comments.

It  has been a while since my last entry but trust me when I say the title for this entry was not hard to choose. I sit here typing this entry on my iMac as my trusty Tinkerbell has had a serious incident and will have to undergo  emergency heart surgery in the next few days. It seems her hard drive has finally bitten the dust and though I probably haven’t lost too much since I tend to backup frequently and .mac or .me or whatever the hell it is called now will resynchronise all my contacts and email accounts once I get her back up and running but it is still a traumatic time. I take Tinkerbell ( my 12” powerbook) everywhere so I have lost all interest in the internet since she went into a coma. Honestly, I have not logged on to MSN, uploaded a blog or even checked my favourite RSS feeds. Bless her incapacitated 12” soul but she is my primary machine and is in use all the time in our newsroom too.

As I writer this I am not unaware of the turmoil afflicting world financial markets and as I look at the web I see that it is now down over 10% a troubling development in an already upsetting week. Markets are tanking the world over and yet I am still seeing TV analysts asking if we are on the verge of a global recession. I believe the answer is a very definite yes and having lived through quite a few I know  it will last a few years. The markets falling is, of course, a symptom of a slight panic on the part of investors but it is a state of panic in the face of some piss poor economic results being seen from a number of countries around the world.  Ireland, long the economic tiger of Europe, is now in recession and the economic tiger of Asia - Singapore - has just joined it with GDP down over 6% for a second quarter. We are in for a very bumpy ride and I see large job losses and a general tightening of belts in our future. It will certainly get worse before it gets better and anyone expecting a turnaround soon is a few nuggets short of a happy meal. We are in for a trying time as  markets readjust and the economy finds new firm ground to stand on. Funny how we never learn a lesson from past mistakes as it always comes down to easy credit. Read a bit on the Great Depression and the similarities become rather disconcerting.

In other personal news I have been afflicted with a sort of technological blight in the last two weeks. It started with my Mondeo not functioning properly and a missing mechanic who had to set some things right. It moved on to my beloved Samsung D900 being unable to charge owing to a poorly designed charger port which is now in a repair shop and don’t even let me get started on that fiasco but it still leaves me without my 2000 contacts easily accessible ( they were mirrored on my laptop but she is not able to help me either). Then, while trying to resuscitate Tinkerbell I started feeling a bit warm in my living room and realised my groovy electronic fan had conked out.  I think I need a voodoo doctor to stop me before I kill more tech.

Just watched “Life on Mars” the new series on ABC. I like the weird premise of a police officer being transported back to 1973  but in the midst of my new technology snafu it has made me even more depressed. Watching the character getting used to everything in the world of 1973 I realised that, though I was not quite a teenager yet, I remembered the music, the cars, the references, Richard Nixon, 8 tracks and even the bad hairstyles. Suddenly my memories make me dated - a virtual dinosaur in the modern world. I should have seen this coming when chatting with one of our 20-something IT people not too long ago I casually mentioned that I remembered how annoying using punch cards for input was and he looked at me like I feel from space. He had never heard of punch cards and card readers and told me that he never knew I was that old. I guess i am.

Le smiley origininali di MSN potete scaricarle da qui. Per installarle basta trascinare l'archivio tar.gz appena scaricato nella finestra che si apre, cliccando sul menu di Pidgin Strumenti->Preferenze->Tema degli smiley .

Trick 1: C'e' un'opzione molto comoda che fa' lampeggiare l'icona di Pidgin nella traybar quando si riceve un messaggio: click con il tasto destro del mouse sull' icona di Pidgin nella traybar->Lampeggia all'arrivo di nuovi messaggi . Ebbene le icone per Pidgin che ho consiglio di usare qui, fanno lampeggiare un simbolo di errore che sta ad indicare che l'icona non e' stata trovata!! L'icona effettivamente non e' presente nel set di icone. Per sistemare questo fastidiossimo inconveniente ho fatto due icone:

Potete salvarle cliccandoci sopra con il tasto destro del mouse->Salva immagine con nome . Quella delle due che preferite, va salvata nella cartella /usr/local/share/pixmaps/pidgin/traybar/22 con il nome tray-new-im.png   . Potete dare da root il comando nautilus per fare tutto agevolmente.

Trick 2: il trillo si fa scrivendo /nudge nella finestra di conversazione!!

Trick 3: ho notato che, se non si salva un messaggio personale che usiamo, non c'e' piu' modo di cancellarlo! Dev'essere un bug che verra' sistemato al piu' presto ma intanto i messaggi personali si accumulano e danno fastidio... Per cancellarli, basta editare il file ~/.purple/status.xml, che contiene appunto tutti i messaggi personali inseriti in pidgin. Un messaggio personale e' salvato nel file  status.xml in questo modo:

Ogni messaggio comincia comincia con <status name e finisce con </status>, li ho evidenziati con un rettangolo azzurro e per la cronaca si chiamano tag . In rosso ho sottolineato lo stato associato al messaggio, e il messaggio vero e proprio: come avrete gia' intuito, per rimuovere un messaggio basta cancellare da <status name a </status>, compresi. Attenzione: Pidgin deve essere CHIUSO prima di modificare il file, altrimenti le modifiche non avranno alcun effetto.

Improving a newly launched website ranking across the search engines is a very hard and time taking process. However by using some technique’s which i am explaining later in this article one can achieve the desire goal . The following steps are very important when you are going to build your website links.

1. Website title

your website title should be unique and must focus your whole website content. For example if some one have a website called Sports Products and have brand or company name tompako then the title should must be include Tompako sports products and blah blah. Standard title character limit should be 65 characters . Make sure that you have added keywords of each page according to the content on that page like if you have boxing products page then in title Boxing products will be a juice for search engines.title can be set within the head tags of html code as follow

2. Website Description

Describe your website description . What exactly your website is and focus the key points of you website in your description. Description should be 200 or in some cases 250 and is the best . description stay between head tag. Keep in mind add at least two or more keywords from the content of the page to the description.

Keywords are the key to success in search engine ranking. Describe best and uniquie keyword focusing your page and website content . Currently the total character count for your Meta Keyword Maximum should be 268-350. However, over 300 may not do any good. We generally use only 3 to 12 keywords or keyword phrases in our Meta Keyword Tags and always stay well below the recommended Meta Keyword maximum characters. Links are simple url to your website from other relative website links pages or content.

Deep linking ( Links directly to your main and sub pages from other websites)

why this website appear first because it have good back links and good search engine ranking.

now how we can get the list of back links or the websites that are providing links back to this website its simple

open google.com and enter link:www.ringside.com

you will see couple of website go to each website and try if they can add your website .

its a simple and power full ways now when you finish all links go back to google and try again the keyword boxing products or whatever you want now again a list of urls appears that have good ranking for the given keyword now select 2ND good website and see her back links and publish your website .

Further you also use yahoo search engine to find back links for these site use the same search string as you use on google to find back links. Yahoo give more back links then google about website :) 

Remember only post your links to websites that have relative products , services, business or content never try other websites.

Ok, today I'm talking about a topic you probably don't know (yet): aMSN2.

Let's go straight to the point: aMSN2 is the next generation MSN clone. Multiplatform, multifrontend (yeah, I meant multifrontend) and written in Python.

I've been working on the core and on the Qt4 frontend. I wanted to show you a screencast, but somehow something went nuts on my PC and everything I can get is a crappy video full of redrawing bugs. But nevermind, I took some photos :)

Oh, yeah, the Qt4 login window, powered by QSS super powers, copyright by Profox. Already working with all the goodness. But let me show you something more interesting...

aMSN2 is the widget on the left, with my test account logged in. I made some chatting with my real account logged into emesene (on the right) to demonstrate chatting works.

Ok, chatting GUI still sucks, but what matters the most is that aMSN2 can already chat, send/receive typing notifications, send/receive nudges & status updates, and receive custom emoticons (even if they're not correctly handled yet). In short, it's taking shape :)

Please don't forget this is still work in progress, unstable, it might kill random members of your family or pets. And, quoting Kakaroto, every time the "When will it be released?" question get asked, we delay release of a month. So keep quiet!

But, for developers' sake, we have a git repository where we keep the code. It is here: http://github.com/drf/amsn2/tree/master .
If you're interested in helping (we need EFL, GTK, Cocoa [Mac frontend], Qt, and general python developers), just fork the repository, work on some patches, and send a pull request. One of the reason we are using git in this stage it's that it makes external contribution easier. Not to mention the #amsn channel on freenode, our base.

Mi sono quindi attivato per capire cosa si potesse fare per migliorare un po' le cose: per fortuna molto!

Di icone, sfondi e anche smiley (sono le emoticon predefinite) per Pidgin se ne trovano parecchi su gnome-look.org. Io ho deciso per un "Human-restyling": per quanto di solito il marroncino di Ubuntu non mi piace, devo dire che icone e sfondo per Pidgin li ho trovati davvero ben fatti! In piu' sembra essere abbastanza in tema con con lo stile del desktop. Si presenta cosi:

da qui si puo' scaricare un archivio con sfondo e icone. Ci sono anche i temi Human per Guifications (per chi non conosce o non sa' installare questo plugin, click qui); ho trovato questo:

A dirla tutta, i temi Human per Guifications non mi piacciono e credo che quel marroncino possa stonare su molti wallpaper, li ho riportati solo per completezza; qui qualche tema che trovo molto carino per ogni desktop.

Adesso vediamo come applicare icone e sfondi.

Le icone di solito vengono distribuite in un archivio compresso; lo estraiamo sul desktop e ci troviamo di fronte a una cartella di nome pidgin . Click con il tasto destro del mouse su questa cartella e selezioniamo Copia. Apriamo un terminale e diamo, da root, il comando:

nautilus

si aprira' cosi' una sessione di nautilus da ammistratore: portarsi nella cartella /usr/local/share/pixmaps/ . A questo punto dovreste avare davanti a voi un'altra cartella di nome pidgin: rinominatela in pidgin_bak. Adesso cliccate col destro in un'area vuota della finestra e selezionate incolla. Vi ritroverete due cartelle nella finestra: pidgin_bak e pidgin.

Chiudete e riaprite pidgin per rendere effettive le modifiche. :D

Per modificare lo sfondo di Pidgin aprite la vostra home, cliccate su Visualizza e selezionate Mostra file nascosti: in questo modo potete vedere i file nascosti della vostra home e avere accesso alla cartella .purple. Create all'interno di .purple la cartella backgrounds: qui copiate l'immagine che volete utilizzare come sfondo. Di solito lo sfondo viene fornito in una cartella assieme ad un file nascosto di nome .gtkrc-2.0: fate come sopra per poter vedere questo file e apritelo (basta cliccarci sopra due volte). Selezionate tutto il suo contenuto, click con il tasto destro del mouse e Copia. Ora aprite un terminale e date il comando:

gedit  ~/.gtkrc-2.0        se utilizzate gnome

kwrite  ~/.gtkrc-2.0        se utilizzate kde

Si aprira' un editor di testo: se non e' vuoto, portatevi a fine file, click con il tasto destro del mouse e selezionate Incolla. Salvate e chiudete e riaprite pidgin per rendere effettive le modifiche. :D
