These charming little numbers are made using the hot water method so that all the FP can be manipulated in the hand.  Each section is made from a rectangle or square of Friendly Plastic, and the skirts are pieces of FP that I have coloured with permanent inks and pens.  I often put a brooch pin on the back and turn it in to a fun piece of jewellery, but they work really well on cards too.

Harking back to Australia a moment, I went to see my friend Toni Valentine who is extremely clever with her textile and computer work; she creates wonderful digitised designs based on her own photos.  See her web site Astitchdesign. Toni has the most amazing studio I have ever been in.  It is ENORMOUS.  I thought you might like to see what I mean:

I am not kidding when I say it is the size of a small ballroom (it even has a glitter ball in the ceiling!).  It is the most extravagant space to create in, with dedicated computing, sewing, table and storage areas.  OK, it contains a load of old furniture that she is waiting to remove, but the views are stupendous, and if you cannot be inspired in here then there is no hope for you.  However Toni is permanently inspired, she has been putting up 2 textile shows in Sydney, and she still found time to feed us.  Thanks Toni, it was wonderful to see you and catch up.

Soul Eater primarily revolves around students classified as meisters at the Shinigami Weapon Meister Vocational School, or Shibusen for short, located in the fictional Death City, in Nevada, United States. The school is run by Shinigami, the God of Death himself, as a training facility for weapons and the human wielders of those weapons, the meisters.

The three main meister and weapons teams for soul eater are

Maka Alban the scythe weilder and her partner Soul eater Eveans (yes that is his real name) a male demon scythe

Blackstar a loud Ninja and dark demon blade weilder and Tsubaki Nakatsukasa a calm and kind girl whose also  blackstar's dark demon blade.

abd then theres The shinigami son: Death the kid.....let me repeat that for you guys, DEATH THE KID... That is truly his birth name. ..Anywho before i go on my name rant i gotta finish this. Death the kid is a twin demon pistol wielder, this is due to his obsession with symmetry. His pistols are mature Elizabeth and naive Patricia Thompson aka Liz and Patty.

the show is funny, action-packed, and just enjoyable. Watch it!

My friend Liz (above left) and I (above right) took a trip up to Three Stone Hearth last Thursday.

I have a lot of photos so I'm going to split this up into a number of posts.

Three Stone Hearth is a community supported kitchen (or CSK) in Berkeley, California, founded by Jessica Prentice, Larry Wisch, Porsche Combash, Misa Koketsu, and Catherine Spanger. A community supported kitchen is very much like community supported agriculture (or CSA), where you become a member of a farm and get a box of vegetables each week. With a CSK, members join the kitchen and each week they can order a box of prepared foods available for pick up or delivery. There is no minimum with Three Stone Hearth -- and you don't have to have a standing order.

The foods are made with sustainably-raised local produce, meats and dairy products whenever possible, because they believe in supporting small-scale, local, ecological, and pasture-based farmers and ranchers.

My friend Angelique (above left) drove from San Francisco to volunteer with us. (That is co-owner, Larry Wisch on the right).

We volunteered in the kitchen on Friday and then on Saturday night we attended the Full Moon Feast (which I will write about in another post).

Liz and I jumped right in and started jarring sauerkraut.

Angelique was cleaning and peeling carrots for the coleslaw for the Full Moon Feast. We also used carrots in a batch of sauerkraut.

Then she put the carrots into a big food grinder to shred them.

Here are the Harsch crocks they use to ferment the sauerkraut and pickles. They have about 25, which they special-ordered all the way from Germany.

They ferment the sauerkraut and pickles for 6-8 weeks.

POSTSCRIPT: You can't ferment sauerkraut in a mason jar for 6-8 weeks. It would turn to mush! You can only do this in a Harsch crock. It has a "water lock" system that is designed to lock in the good stuff and let the bad gasses escape. They did tell us that if you can get a crock, fermenting your food longer is much more nutritious. I posted a link below in the comments with a place that sells the crocks.

La última vez que escribí en este blog fue hace una semana, no el 2 de Julio. Muchas cosas pasaron en estos 7 días. Todas relacionadas con la historia que venía contando.

Me hicieron ver que al escribir la historia exponía demasiado a sus actores, es decir, a Liz, Jorge, Julia y a mí. Y tenían razón. Pero jamás escribí desde el rencor o con ganas de lastimar.

La historia con Liz terminó. La historia con Julia también terminó. Supongo que ahora vendrán nuevas historias. Espero que menos conflictivas. Sin tanto gris.

Usually when Donny is out of town, we get to communicate through email at some point each day. But, this week...It is different. We have to go the whole week without talking to each other. He's usually encouraging me in some way, telling me I'm a great mom, and anything to help me get through the time he is away. So I definitely miss that! I miss him! Tons is going on though, which I'm actually very thankful for, cause it keeps my mind busy and makes the days go by faster.

Today I got several things set up and decided upon for the repairs on our current house, and one major thing was completed today. Tomorrow we are having the inspection of our new house. In addition, I'm going to tour two or three schools to find a Pre-K program for Logan.

Update: Just after I posted this blog, I got a call from Honduras. No way...my baby called me. Had no clue it was him calling. He got ahold of a phone for a moment and was able to check on me and say hello. What a wonderful surprise!! :) :) Hehe! He is doing well and sounds like they are having a great mission trip. I will sleep good tonight!
