At least six animals that spent time in High Park fell ill, with symptoms including dizziness, lethargy and frequent urination.

One was euthanized and the other succumbed to the poison at the vet clinic that treated most of the poisoned dogs, The Toronto Star reported Tuesday.

Toronto police have suggested the poisoning could be related to a debate over whether dog owners should be allowed to let their pets off-leash in the massive, west-end park.

The city has seen dog poisoning sprees in at least two parks in recent years. Pet poisonings have also been reported in Calgary and Regina. (news)

When searching for fixes to the problem I'm having, I find a crew of other malcontents slowly raising their hands on mozilla, and other forums, admitting despite their best wishes, that the browser has bottomed out for them too.

The specific problem I am having relates to the browser hanging and running it's memory use up. If I give it a higher priority (working with the Windows task manager process list) sometimes it will resolve, but it will return to bad every time. I get between one and five minutes of FF3 free wheeling fun and then bam I hit the brick wall of idiocracy. It has topped out at 200k even with no page loaded and in safe mode.

Helpful posters at the mozilla forums suggested some possible solutions (opens in new window) which did not help my case. Also, Mozilla offers tips at their Firefox Hangs (opens in new window) page on how to address a freezing browser, but again no help for me.

I spent the first part of the day switching back to FF3, after changing my anti-virus, uninstalling a slew of possibly conflicting programs, and going commando on all traces of previous FF installs (folders, registry settings, old happy memories). Of course, the first 5 to 10 minutes of my first run of each fresh install of FF3 are beautiful, filling me with soon-to-be bitter false hope. After admitting that I was still not ready for Firefox3 on this machine, I uninstalled it and reinstalled the latest 2 release (2.0.0.16) and was back to no problems.

With the day nearly over, the news that 3.0.1 was available trickled into my RSS catcher and I went out, once again, on the hunt. Needless to say, the experience was not improved by the mysteriously summarized "Fixed several stability issues" (See http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/3.0.1/releasenotes/).

In summary, after a day of juggling between Firefox 2 and Firefox 3, I'm throwing in the towel and sticking with 2 until I hear about some major stability fixes. I still can't take myself out of the search for solution. For all I know, some little proggie I use is gumming up the works, but Mozilla, this is for you: Address these issues!

Incidentally, a frozen Firefox browser still beats a working one of Internet Explorer. Sheesh, who does Microsoft hire to come up with product names, anyways.

I keep analyzing everything, wondering what more can I do. I am set up with the food cupboard for the lean weeks. I am all set to call for an appointment to determine how much fuel assistance I will qualify for. I got rid of the DirecTV.

What else can I do? A tough question, and not one that I am sure that I can answer with 100% accuracy.

* I loaned my brother the last of my savings which, when paid back in a week or two will give me $445.00 which will all go toward the last DirecTV bill and the electric bill. I have a credit with the oil company, which will be gone when the furnace gets cleaned - I skipped this last year, so I have to do it this year for my piece of mind. It is an old, though well-running, furnace.

My stimulus check paid bills as well, all $300.00 of it.

We should be all set for clothes, which mostly came from the GoodWill.

* To insure that all runs smoothly, I will vacuum out all heating vents, wash the covers, and rinse the furnace door screen. I will also vacuum around the furnace. These will be done just before the heating season, as well as again in January as our furnace guy suggested.

Also, I will be keeping the heat at 55* at night if possible, and 60*-62* during the day during the winter months. We will keep plenty of blankets easily accessible, slippers on our feet, and warm clothing on our bodies. We will also keep more blankets on the bed.

However, for a short enough period of time each day, I will put the heat up for showers.

I am hoping to be able to get a programmable thermostat.

* I will get curtains made by winter, I hope.

* I always bank the trailer for winter, and plug the heat tape in underneath (obviously before banking), but this year we will also put plastic on the windows. I will try to remember to attempt to seal any air leaks as well.

* I will try to be stocked up on as much food, household cleaners and personal hygiene items as possible.

* I hope to be able to get two things to help with the water/sewer bill:

1. One of the shower heads that you can push a button to stop the spray while you lather up, and

2. One of those toilet gadgets that allow you to save water when you flush. This is different than the bottle of water in the tank - which will be staying.

* We will keep bags in the freezer for both leftover veggies and leftover fruits. The veggies will go into stews, and the fruits into smoothies and breads. When these items are on sale, we will stock up some and freeze.

* We rarely ever eat meat any more, and will mostly be living on homemade breads/muffins, salads, pasta, rice, and beans).

Anyone have any good vegetarian baked beans recipes? Other vegetarian bean recipes?

* We will likely turn the lights off in the evening, getting important things done during daylight, and saving what we need minimal light for to do in the evenings. I have an over abundance of candles, as well as oil lamps, that we could be using instead of the lights.

* I will try to cover the three windows that we do not use in the winter with heavy blankets. The one in the pantry is never opened, and the two bathroom ones are small but let in cold air.

* Also, I will not be heating the pantry (small bedroom) as it only stores food and other items.

This is all I have for now. Feel free to add your ideas. They are much appreciated.

What would it be like if we were to freeze for a few minutes???

Not like everyday or something, but once in a while?

Just to let our body know we care about it and that we care about things around us as well. While i was reading the "Slow is beautiful" post, i realised that we are all too busy going from one minute to the next, that we hardly take a minute off during the day. Either we are working, studying, talking to friends, going out, travelling, or just about doing something..

Infact I was talking to a friend about how 24hours is not enough, i need more hours in a day.. And then, after the chat i was flummoxed.. I wondered if ever there will be a day when i would have enough time... i don't think so... the more time i have, the more things i do, and the more i do, the chances of getting into new stuff increase, and thereon happens the need for more hours ... its a vicious cycle~~~

Sometimes i wonder what is the point of all this? where are we headed? ok, so i work hard, and earn decent sum of $$ every month.. Then i buy stuff that i've dreamt off, ok... then what? where does it end? or does it?? do we keep living our lives like a robot? endlessly working towards one goal or the other? i mean, in the end we all are going to die !!.. Off late, i've been trying to take off atleast 5mins once every 2days, and not DO ANYTHING.. I mean absolutely nothing.. i just sit still.. no tv, no book, no computer, no people around me.. nothing... zip squat nada... and know what, it helps relax my mind.. At the end of the time, i feel a bit calm and very relaxed, like i've just had a lovely massage. It's okay to let your mind wander on its own and get clear of the clutter...

This also helps clear our head and give us better perspective on life... also known to increase concentration... trust me on this one...

What say? can we stop the clock every once in a while for a few seconds or minutes??

I found this video where people in US froze for about 5mins, right thre in Central park( the railway station) and the same happened in UK as well.. I was like "wow".. Infact there are people who are drinking water, reading a book, eating a banana, who've all pushed the pause button~!!

ack, fuck my life. really though, i'm a pessimistic bitch and everyone's got their finger pointed to the button that says "we know." shit yes, i'm a girl melting in past regrets and can't seem to fight over maintaining a healthy relationship without screwing with the mind, and that includes my own.

i don't want anything, i need something. i care, i don't care. i push my regrets off my shoulder, and they fall from some invisible skyscraper just to scar my back again. what the hell, can't i turn my mind off for a couple of seconds? can i just... i don't know... FREEZE it? whoa, freeze it. no, i can't freeze it. i can forget about it, until it crawls back up to settle itself a nice home in my head a few days later. you know what's MY problem? that i have so many assorted problems, but i will never find myself trying to dissect any of them. no, i refuse to realize how i truly feel. that's fucking scary, so i just take all my "feelings" of distress and sorrow, throw them in yesterday's sock and tie it with today's hair band. i'm going to play tyrant in my own mind, and my thoughts can just fall to pieces as i lash them behind closed doors. i just hate DEALING with things, i don't know a healthy way how. so i don't.

i don't deal with it.

like right now, i'm not dealing with feeling bad. i don't know why i feel bad, but you know if i just push it off of me, maybe it'll go and get bored with my impassive composure and hover over someone else's shoulders. that's how i deal with problems. that's how i get over what's nawing at me inside. that, and i swear a lot. it helps me get by.

so yeah, i don't want to talk about it, about what's bothering me. i'm not good at talking, really. i just wanted to bitch and moan about it. and eat the plums awaiting to rest in peace in my belly from my shitty refrigerator. and have a self-esteem boosting lifetime movie do it's pity work on me that i will happily accept knowing that being shallow and only wanting to watch a movie where i can fall in love with the male lead makes me fucking awesome. like you haven't sunk this low before.

 Now lets see how can we make an object immutable and what are the exception to it

1. Versioning an Object (Sys object or any sub type of Sys object)
   When an Object is versioned (made a new version by check in) the old version of the versioned object becomes immutable
2. Branching an Object
   When you branch an Object the parent of the new Branched object becomes Immutable.In both the cases mentioned above Immutability of an object is controlled by an attribute with Boolean value called r_immutable_flag, which is part of dm_sysobject . Content server sets the r_immutable_flag to true on the old version of the object in both these cases.
    
3. Retention Policy
   If the Object is governed by a retention policy that makes its immutable then also the r_immutable_flag to true making the Object immutable.
4. Freezing a Document by calling freeze()
   Freeze method is used to explicitly set a object as immutable. When you call freeze method it sets r_immutable_flag to true and also sets r_frozen_flag to true.
   Setting r_frozen_flag to true indicates that freeze method is called on that object. In other words r_frozen_flag is set to true only if freeze method is called on that object, not by versioning branching etc.
   Unfreezing a Document
   Unfreeze method sets the value of r_frozen_flag to false and also r_immutable_flag to false and hence makes that object mutable again

Freezing and Unfreezing a Virtual Document
If you chose to freeze an associated snapshot in a Virtual Document, the r_has_frzn_assembly attribute is also set to TRUE on that Virtual Document object.

When you freeze a snapshot r_immutable_flag attributes for each component in the snapshot is set to true and also value of r_frzn_assembly_cnt is incremented. The r_frzn_assembly count attribute contains a count of the number of frozen snapshots that contain this component.

If value of r_frzn_assembly_cnt is greater than zero, you cannot delete or modify the object.

Calling a Freeze method to freeze a snapshot automatically freezes the document with which the snapshot is associated. To freeze only the snapshot and not the document, first execute a Freeze method and include the argument to freeze the snapshot then execute an Unfreeze method to unfreeze only the document.

Creamy Basil Zucchini Soup

What You Need:

• 1 T. olive oil
• 1 lrg. yellow onion, chopped
• 2 lbs. zucchini, sliced 1/4" thick (the recipe doesn't specify, but I peeled mine too)
• 4 c. chicken broth
• 1 c. loosely packed, fresh basil leaves
• 2 T. crème fraîche, plus some for garnish (or sour cream, if no crème fraîche)
• 1/4 t. chili powder
• Kosher salt

What You Do:

Heat the olive in a dutch oven and cook onions about 5 minutes, add zucchini and cook another 2 minutes. Add chicken broth and basil leaves. Reduce heat and simmer 20 minutes. Puree the soup in batches in a blender and force through a mesh seive. Add 2 T. creme fraiche (or sour cream) and 1/4 t. chili powder. Season with salt to taste. Serve or freeze!

And, get this...only 101 calories for each 1 1/2 c. serving!

The normally think ice formed over many years at the pole has been blown away  and replaced by huge swathes of thinner ice formed over a single year. The rate of melting is faster than last year, when there was an all time record loss of summer sea ice at Arctic.

Scientists are particularly interested in the North and South Poles because they are expected to show the most dramatic effects of global warming.

Models predict that the regions will see temperature increases roughly three times as quickly as the rest of the globe because of an effect known as ice albedo feedback, which occurs when highly reflective ice gives way to dark water.

The water absorbs much more of the sun's energy, increasing temperatures and causing further ice melting.

Each summer the sea ice melts. But the last year, the loss of sea ice was so extensive that much of the Arctic Ocean became open water, with the water ice boundary coming just 1126.5 km away from the North Pole.

This means that about 70% of the sea ice present this spring was single year ice formed over last winter. Scientists predicts that much of the ice will melt this summer causing a global warming.

Here’s where the extent of sea ice in the Arctic stands now in relation to the average tracked between 1979 and 2000, and the remarkable ice loss in 2007:

Thus, all the data's clearly figure out the extending ice on the poles.. and the knocking of global warming with the meting of ice on these poles. This clearly results, in the temperature change and thus effecting the climatic conditions as well..!!!!

Thus, the global warming is not so far. And this can be easily visible in these , videos describing all the aspects of global warming and the melting of ice... on the North Pole.
