What i would like to address is peoples general perception of Mexico.

I was lucky enough to have take a 4,000 mile motorcycle trip though Mexico's rural countryside. It was an awesome, one of a kind trip that to this day, 1year later, I still think about frequently. I rode a Kawasaki Vulcan 500 and my friend took a Honda 750.

I heard stories of Kidnappings, killings, tourist preying thieves and corrupt cops that go out of their way to prey on white boys, like me,  from the states. The first thing i will have to say is that 99% of it is a lie and exaggeration.  Beside the tourist and border towns, Mexico is filled with the most honest and personal people i have ever met.

In one town, Tecolutla, I was able to stay for free with a family I met on the beach. After getting to know them, which is so much easier in Mexico, they invited me to dinner every night, took me out site seeing, told me stories of the towns history and even took me on errands in the surrounding larger cities. I was amazed by the general hospitality not only with the family but the whole community as well.

The movie is wholly in gaelic and its wonderful to hear the language spoken, but no different from watching a foreign film. Filmed entirely on Skye, the landscape features heavily in the movie, as does history spanning centuries of tales. For those that know the myths, legends and folklore of Scotland, some of the tales will be recognisable; only one having been written especially for the movie - the tale of the crimson snowdrop. Each tale is clearly distinguishable in terms of the flow of the language, the colour scheme and the storytelling, a result of involving several writers, directors and actors. I have to say that I almost wanted the whole movie to be full of the grandfather's stories.

The music is wonderful and the stories are engrossing. One of the main themes is about the importance of keeping culture alive through language - stories, music, etc. and this is clearly spelled out without detracting from the main storyline itself. Its a wonderfully woven piece of film making and with every viewing something new is revealed - it has that kind of depth.

Its a wonderful movie for all ages, though it does carry a PG rating. I had a few quibbles watching this film, but they are insignificant in comparison to the level of enjoyment this film provides.

If you don't speak Gaelic, subtitles are provided in English, Irish and Scots Gaelic on the DVD. Also provided are interviews in both English and Gaelic. As a bonus, the DVD also contains the original short of the story of the Crimson snowdrop - well worth watching.

Es tal vez la pieza preferida por los músicos llaneros y donde se alcanza la máxima intensidad musical del Joropo. El Joropo es un lenguaje musical basado en estructuras fijas sobre las cuales se desarrolla libremente la improvisación, dentro de parámetros reconocibles de estilo. Esta música de canto y baile, vive del juego entre los metros binarios y ternarios, sus combinaciones y alternancias: entre el metro de 6/8 tan característico del cuatro, las maracas y el registro agudo del arpa y el metro de 3/4 propio de los bajos del arpa ó manifiesto a través de acentuaciones diferentes del cuatro y las maracas que llegan a sugerir hasta el metro de 3/2. La contradicción entre estos metros varios alimenta con vivacidad todo un mundo fervescente de improvisaciones instrumentales, vocales y poéticas que evocan vigorosamente el ritmo de las cabalgatas bravías por las sabanas del llano y la inmensidad de sus horizontes.

El Pajarillo es una forma musical en donde el cantador entra con un Grito sostenido o “tañío” característico, también llamado "leco" por los llaneros, que pareciera reflejar el espacio abierto del llano en su gesto declamatorio y evocar quizá los antiguos gritos de los vaqueros para reunir o hacer desplazar el ganado por las sabanas. La pureza, la afinación y la fuerza de esta nota larga que entona el cantador, generalmente sobre el quinto o cuarto grado de la escala, anuncian al público, la calidad y pretensiones del solista."

Summary & Comments:
Natsume Takashi (Kamiya Hiroshi) has the ability to see spirits. He has learned to keep it a secret from the people around him as they refuse to believe what they cannot see. Having lost his parents at a young age, he shuffles from relative to relative. He moves into a town where his deceased grandmother, Reiko had spent her childhood and finds himself pursued by seemingly malicious spirits. One fateful day, Natsume accidentally releases a spirit in the form of a cat who pointed him to a strange book that belonged to his grandmother. The book contains the names of many spirits whom Reiko defeated. It is said that the owner of the book wields absolute power over the spirits whose names are written in the book as a form of contract. Having known the reason why these spirits are after him, Natsume is now determined to free the spirits from their bonds. With the help of the spirit cat (Inoue Kazuhiko), his journey begins.

I've watched the first episode and so far, I like the general atmosphere of the anime. It draws you into the story immediately with action, drama, humour and heart. The animation is fluid and the environment has a very soft feel to it. I like Kamiyan and the way his voice lends vulnerability as well as resolve to the gentle and kind-hearted Natsumi. And Inoue-san's spirit cat is a gem! I didn't even recognise him until he spoke in his normal voice ^^ Good soundtrack too. I enjoyed it pretty much. I watched it again and discovered a couple of hints which I think will lead to even more interesting plot in the future... looking forward to the next episode!

Io ci sono andata a settembre un anno fa per 2 settimane volendo visitare dei monumenti antichi e godere del mare limpido. Sono riuscita a fare tutto. La vita a Cipro è abbastanza costosa, la loro moneta - la libbra ha un valore più alto della libbra inglese. Comunque a Cipro si mischiano influenze inglese e mediterranee. Per esempio si guida a sinistra :-) Quest' isola fu una colonia inglese e quindi la lingua inglese la sanno parlare quasi tutti a un buon livelo.

Ogni anno si organizza il festival di folklore a Larnaka per cui è tipica l' ottima organizzazione con l' accompagnamento di un moderatore che parla greco e inglese. Il Mediterraneo festival di folklore dura 3 giorni a settembre (di solito verso il 15)  e vi partecipano i gruppi dance che vengono dagli stati della costa del Mar Mediterraneo (Italia, Bulgaria, Serbia, Croazia ecc.). Non sono solo gli stati dell' Europa ma anche dell' Asia, cioè Libano, Israele, Siria e i rappresentanti africani come Tunisia, Egitto ecc.

E' molto interessante osservare le differenze di cultura, il modo artistico in cui i partecipanti mostrano  i loro elementi culturali - i balli e i costumi tipici. Grazie a questo festival Cipro cerca di essere un centro della cultura mediterranea e io direi che l' aspirazione di possedere questa cultura è fruttuosa.

Può anche essere una possibilità per fare turismo attraverso il dialogo interculturale. Avete mai sentito parlare di un nuovo progetto Life beyond tourism? L' idea di fondo è che il turismo è in grado di creare opportunità di conoscenza fra culture. One of the first things that comes to my mind is the legend of the 'bokkerijders' (translated it is 'buckriders' or 'goatriders', also spelled as 'bokkenrijders'): a group of highwaymen that pillaged and plundered large parts of the Belgian and Dutch Kempen (a region in the south of the Netherlands and in the north of Belgium) and who where also active in the western part of Germany in the second half of the 18th century. There was poverty in these regions at that time, and these highwaymen were angry, for the Church had all the wealth.

It started of with plundering abbeys, churches and cloisters. But like with so many things, the success of the raids got into their heads and they started plundering villages. Excesses started to surface, and this is were the legend begins. The people were getting frightened of these highwaymen, who sometimes appeared out of nowhere, raided churches and abbeys, and spat on the cross. Because of this the people thought they had made a pact with the devil, and some 'eye witnesses' had seen them riding through the nightly heavens, sitting on bucks (the buck is symbolic for satan; a lot of images from that time pictured the devil with buck hooves), and their eyes glowing in the dark. So it was said. That is why they were called 'bokkerijders'.
