Only one problem. The quote is from Joe Vogler, the raging anti-American who founded the Alaska Independence Party. Inconveniently for Palin, that’s the very same secessionist party that her husband, Todd, belonged to for seven years and that she sent a shout-out to as Alaska governor earlier this year. (“Keep up the good work,” Palin told AIP members. “And God bless you.”)

The AIP actually reminds me of the Americanophobic Canadian Action Party that is calling (unsuccessfully, mind you) for an independent Canada so that they don't have to depend on the US any longer. I think the Canadian Action Party and the Alaskan Independence Party should merge. How convenient since they are so close to each other in proximity too. Not Russia-close, but you know what I mean. ;-) Their messages are similar:

The Canadian Action Party is, above all, a pro-Canadian party dedicated to the principle that Canada can best serve its citizens and the world by re-claiming and maintaining its political and economic sovereignty as an independent country.

Naturally, Sarah Palin and Joe Vogler aren't your only friends in America.

I'd like to say that Bill Ayers is one of your friends as well, but I won't. He's not an Anti-American. He used to be, but he has cleaned himself up and has been doing good for America by way of charity projects and becoming a professor. He wants to fix what's broken in America and I admire that. Better than the incessant whiners any day. (RE: ACORN: I want to know that Obama/Ayers are directly involved with encouraging voter fraud before I say anything, but that's besides the point.) Ayers stayed in this country, after all, and did what he could to help after he rehabilitated. Americanophobes abroad would never think of helping a fallen American (obviously). Rather, they would step on them and mush them into the cement. But they like to call themselves, "tolerant", "peace-loving", and "considerate" all the time while patting their backs. I love the irony.

Now, I'd introduce you to Pastor Jeremiah Wright, but scratch that. Why? He believes in God, and Americanophobes loathe people who are religious. So, forget that.

Anyway...

There are more Americans that hate America than all those that hate America abroad combined. But see, you wouldn't know that you have so many friends over here in the US because you know as much about the US as Americans know about the rest of the world. Because after all, Americanophobia IS based on ignorance and underdeveloped brains. You know, brains like this and this. Don't matter how you sugar-coat it, bigotry IS bigotry. And bigotry stems from, once again, ignorance. DISCLAIMER: Before you people start foaming at the mouth, let's not confuse being disgusted with America with Anti-Americanism because they are two different things.

Now, go on. Show Governer Sarah Palin your unwavering support, hold hands, and join together as you do whatever it is you do best i.e bullying innocent people and hating those that aren't like you.

You can't really tell from this photo, but the Paton's "Nuance" yarn has a metallic strand in it.  For the hat, I picked 2 coordinating solids from my collection of TLC Essentials (these are all available in the Big Craft Stores we have in town, you understand), and used the Nuance remaining from the scarf for the 3rd color and the turned-up ribbed brim.

These will be going to Julie McDonald, the woman who taught me to knit, for her annual church fundraiser Craft Sale.  (I try to give her something each year to sell, in token of my gratitude for my much-beloved hobby.)  I attach yarn labels for their care instructions.

Hey this is the first segment of my video game review section. Each month I’m planning on reviewing 1 DS, and 1 Wii game. The rating system will be out of a max ten points 10 being the highest.

Wario Land Shake It!

Well it’s that time of the year again summers over, and the games start pouting on for the Christmas season. Even though E3 sucked and showed us that most of Nintendo’s major mascots will be just as much on vacation as we will one lone underdog is coming out to try and show us a good time.
Veterans should feel right at home in the latest entry of Wario’s puzzle first, action second platforming adventure. This game is sure to bring back sweet memories of running through extremely well designed levels with your pot bellied villain. This isn’t to say that there aren’t any new features, the motion controls provide Wario with a variety of new moves such as pounding the ground, or shaking enemies for their change.
One of the few complaints I had about this game, is that it is not very fast paced. You’ll find yourself often testing your brain more then your reflexes, and only the final few levels will provide a challenge for veteran players. Those who don't find the main game to be much of the challenge, will probably spend most of there time with the challenge missions. Bonus levels. that provide you with certain restrictions, in an attempt to make your life hell.
This game looks astounding. The 2D animations are a breath of fresh air in the age of graphics, over gaming, and the bosses are enjoyable to battle (even if the later ones show no mercy.) The game’s major faults are the truly horrible music that gets stuck in your head more like a bad commercial jingle then a song and a shop that does nothing of use. But even these can not stop me from picking up the controller again and again until I master a truly great game.

Yesterday, my bank account showed two LARGE charges and I braced myself.  For the UPS man. By now, I know what to expect.  He started laughing when he dropped off the two immensely large boxes and I told him I knew he was coming.  From looking at my bank account.

I took me pretty much all day yesterday and today to unpack, unravel, sort and log all the new stuff.  Mostly socks.  I must have been insane ordering all these socks.  There are now 18 different over-the-knees!  I don't even want to count the regular socks...

Every year, I expand not only the sock and tight section - this year I ordered hats, caps, gloves, mittens AND scarves for the first time.  Had to get some ladies, too, to show them off:

M-am hotarat sa infloresc acum, la inceputul lunii octombrie pentru ca nimeni din familia Asteracee, adica familia mea, nu a mai vazut peisajul asta.

Mi-e mila de copacei. Asa de cheliosi... Unii mai au cateva frunze pe cap. Si pamantul e asa de golas, nu i-o fi frig fara paturica calduroasa de iarba?

It all started last winter when I ventured into making myself a cap. I had never even made a hat so it was something very experiential and once finished a few people asked me about it. Later in the year I perfected the brim and overall shape. The trilby, designed to be worn as either a sexy trilby hat or a cute bucket hat,  spawned out of an accident while making the cap. I found that the chunky texture of the cap, if designed a certain way, could be easily shaped and keep it's form naturally.

The beret is a London inspired hat. It's everywhere! Although not in chunky form! ;) I decided to experiment with the puffy stitch and came up with a five star starting point to which I added 5 more puffy stitches in between. I ended up with 10 points around the hat, giving it a unique Lady Liberty like crown.

The chunky aspect of my hats comes out of curiosity and the urge to have even made a hat in the first place came from wanting to get more out of crochet. Crochet doesn't seem to get as good of a wrap as knitting does and it's not as popular either. Maybe it's because when I think of crochet I think of doilies and somewhat unattractive items.  Although that isn't always the case. My mom makes some very nice (and useful) things out of crochet like shawls, bags and table cloths. I suppose doilies are the start of great crochet!

The challenge I posed myself was to make an elegant and desirable form of head wear with crochet. My designs may not be those things, but they do have 1 hardcore fan! I love them!! It's obvious to me that if I wouldn't wear them that I probably wouldn't sell them either. Yeah, I'm sticking to that. ;)

The other reason was that I actually had no clue how to sew a cap!! I actually wanted to describe here how I ended up doing it BUT today I googled for "tutorial cap" and found a great tutorial! (Yes - why did I not google for it the last months!!??) Anyway, now I can refer you to this tutorial because it´s almost the way I did and I will for sure try this very soon. You´ll find it on Mushroom Villagers´ blog.
