Akademik Personel ve Lisansüstü Eğitimi Giriş Sınavı´nın (ALES) Sonbahar Dönemi için başvurular 22 Eylül-15 Ekim 2008 tarihleri arasında alınacak. ÖSYM yapılan açıklamaya göre, başvurmak isteyen adaylar, kılavuzu ve aday bilgi formunu 22 Eylül 2008 tarihinden itibaren ´´www.osym.gov.tr´´ internet adresinden ulaşabilecekler. Ayrıca kılavuz dağıtımı yapılmayacak. Adaylar, başvuru işleminden önce 40 YTL sınav ücretini bankaya yatıracaklar. Elektronik ortamda yapılacak başvurular, 2007-2008 ALES´e giren adaylarca internet aracılığıyla, bu sınava başvurmamış adaylarca ise başvuru merkezleri aracılığıyla gerçekleştirilecek. Başvuruda 3 YTL başvuru hizmeti ücreti ödenecek.
Yükseköğretim kurumlarında öğretim görevlisi, okutman, araştırma görevlisi, uzman, çevirici ve eğitim-öğretim planlamacısı kadrolarına açıktan veya öğretim elemanı dışındaki kadrolardan naklen atanabilmek için ALES´e girmek gerekiyor. Sınavda 100 üzerinden 70 puan alan adaylar başarılı sayılacaklar. Başarılı adaylar, ´´Öğretim Üyesi Dışındaki Öğretim Elemanı Kadrolarına Naklen veya Açıktan Yapılacak Atamalarda Uygulanacak Merkezi Sınav ile Giriş Sınavlarına İlişkin Usul ve Esaslar Hakkında Yönetmelik´´te belirtilen şartları taşımaları halinde giriş sınavlarına başvurabilecek. Doktora veya sanatta yeterlik derecesine sahip olanlar, Tıpta Uzmanlık Tüzüğü hükümlerine göre uzmanlık eğitimini tamamlayanlar, meslek yüksekokullarının Yükseköğretim Kurulu tarafından belirlenen uzmanlık alanlarına atanacaklar, bu yönetmelik yürürlüğe girdiği tarihte yükseköğretim kurumlarında bu kadro unvanlarında çalışmakta olanlar ile yükseköğretim kurumlarından ayrılan öğretim elemanlarının çalışmakta oldukları yükseköğretim kurumlarında veya başka yükseköğretim kurumlarında öğretim elemanı kadrolarına başvurularında, merkezi sınav; meslek yüksekokullarının öğretim elemanı kadrolarına başvurularda ise yabancı dil şartı

Türkiye´de bir lisansüstü eğitim programında öğrenim görmek isteyenler de ALES´e girecekler. Adayların, ALES´ten, başvurduğu lisansüstü programın puan türünde en az 55 (Lisans diplomasıyla doktora veya sanatta yeterlik programına başvuracaklar için 70) puan almaları gerekiyor. Bütün yükseköğretim kurumları lisansüstü eğitim için öğrenci seçerken ALES sonuçlarını kullanacaklar. Bu yolla yurt dışında lisansüstü öğrenim görmek isteyen adayların ALES´e girme zorunluluğu bulunuyor. Mecburi hizmet yükümlülüğü olmaksızın kendi imkanlarıyla yurt dışında lisansüstü öğrenim görecekler ise bu sınava katılmayacaklar.
Ayrıca, ALES´e, bir lisans programından mezun olabilecek durumdakiler ve lisans programlarını bitirenler ile denklik belgesi almış olmak kaydıyla yurt dışında lisans eğitimi görmüş olanlar da başvurabilecek. ALES´e yabancı uyruklular da girebilecek.

Türkçe yapılacak sınavda her bir aday için sayısal, sözel ve eşit ağırlıklı üç ayrı ALES puanı hesaplanacak ve sonuçlar adayların adreslerine sınav sonuç belgesiyle duyurulacak.

As promised, I'm going to do an entry on the best local pub near me. That's a pretty hard title to come by, since I have a total of 6 pubs within a half mile of my new house. Yes, I know, life is pretty good. In advance, I'd like to apologise for the outside shots as it had just started raining, and so they look pretty miserable. Usually it's quite nice here. Honest.

The Fat Cat won the award for 'Best Pub in the UK' a few years ago, I can't be bothered to find out which year, but I'm sure their website informs you. As a result, they're rather up market for a local pub in Norwich. I mean they sell Kettle Chips and turnip crisps, for God's sakes. With this being the case, I'm not sure how much time I'm going to spend there getting drunk with friends, but I think it'll be nice to just unwind and relax and all that jazz.

It's not a very big pub. It's got a few tables outside, and quite a few inside, but the whole thing is rather narrow. It's also quite expensive for anything but their own house ales (which hover around the £2.30 mark), but it manages to pull of a feeling that it's worth it, which is a credit to it, I suppose. I'm not one to criticise a drinking establishment for much beyond price, so I'll just get on with what's awesome about The Fat Cat.

The first thing is probably their house ales. They've got four (that I've seen), three of which are just variations on the same flavour, and then there's the honey ale, which is rather brilliant. It's a 4.2% ale, which doesn't sound all that much, but because it's an ale, and because it tastes quite a bit like honey, you tend to drink the whole lot in the space of about 5 minutes. Obvious this could create problems if you had more than one or two, as I expect to find out once my housemates actually move in and I don't have to face the daunting prospect of drinking alone.

The next best thing about The Fat Cat is it's choice. If you don't fancy one of their cheaper home brews, you've got a frankly ridiculous amount of choice of other beers on tap. I was taking the pictures in a somewhat clandestine manner, so excuse the blurriness; I just didn't want to get beaten up by the rather scary looking barman (who seemed just as friendly). I'm not sure the exact figure, but I think they have close to 30 beers on tap. No one needs that much choice. It only serves to debilitate you.

So that's the Fat Cat, a pub less than 100 metres from my new house. So that's 6 pubs, three indians, two chineses, a KFC and a kebab house all within half a mile of my new house. Thank God for the gymn (which I spell so because of this).

St Austell Brewery is celebrating a triple success for its flagship Tribute Ale after it was named as one of the UK's top ten ales, clinched a national sales deal with Waitrose and smashed its sales records for the seventh successive year.

Tribute's achievement in making it into the coveted top ten of the UK's premium cask ales is based on sales volumes in Britain's pubs and means it is the first Cornwall- or Devon-brewed beer ever to make it into the national chart compiled by the Nielsen Company, the world's leading provider of marketing information and audience measurement.

The national deal with Waitrose will see Tribute sold in selected larger stores across the country and means even more people can taste for themselves why Tribute has enjoyed such meteoric growth since its launch in 2001. It comes in addition to existing national listings for Tribute with Asda and Sainsbury as well as being sold across the South West in Tesco, Co-op, Spar and Thresher stores.

It has all added up to a boom in Tribute sales which have soared 25 per cent on last year and led to the Brewery having just completed the second major expansion of its brewing facilities at St Austell in the last two years. Two massive new fermentation vessels have been craned into the Brewery in addition to a pair installed in 2006, which soon reached full capacity. The latest expansion now gives St Austell the capacity to brew up to two million pints each month.

Neil Whelpton, Buyer - Beers and Cider for Waitrose said: "Tribute is becoming an increasingly successful brand nationally and we are delighted to have agreed with St Austell Brewery to add this fine Cornish ale to the selection of quality beers offered by Waitrose.

"Tribute offers our customers a distinctive and authentic regional ale and is a welcome addition to our carefully selected range of beers available in-store."

James Staughton, Managing Director of St Austell Brewery, said: "This is great news and a fantastic achievement in such a short time. Tribute's popularity reflects the skills, dedication and attention to quality through each stage of the process from grain to glass. We select only top quality ingredients many of which are grown in Cornwall to be brewed by Roger Ryman and his skilled team. Once brewed, all our distribution depots and our pubs are Cask Marque accredited and we take great care to support and train publicans and their bar staff to help ensure they serve customers a perfect pint of Tribute every time. Tribute's success at a national level is something Cornwall and the South West should all be proud of."

Research by industry analysts Nielsen for trade publication The Morning Advertiser found that against a national fall of five per cent in beer sales (and eight per cent for lagers) premium cask ales were bucking the trend with a 0.4 per cent rise. Tribute's inclusion within the top ten of premium cask ales comes following a study for The Publican earlier this year which listed Tribute for the first time among the UK's top drinks brands, putting it alongside international brands such as Pernod and Jim Beam.

The last 18 months have seen significant growth in Tribute's profile regionally after it was named the South West's favourite beer in British Beer Awards run by Cask Marque and the Daily Telegraph.

Tribute is also the official beer of South West rugby through its sponsorship of the Tribute Leagues and this has helped drive the popular "Tribute - You've Earned It" marketing campaign which is playing a key role in driving sales.

Nationally, as well as increasing off-sales through deals like Waitrose, Tribute is continuing to expand its popularity as a cask ale and at any one time there will be more than 1,000 pubs across the UK carrying Tribute behind the bar either as one of their regular beers or as a guest ale.

Pe un colţ al mesei un maldăr de dosare jerpelite arăta distracţia ce urma. Multe aşa-zise cauze, unele tergiversate, altele actuale, unele ridicole, altele pregătite să distrugă destine, toate la grămadă.

Grefiera, planturoasă, chiar frumoasă, disonant de străină acestei săli, se ridică şi uitându-se cu milă la jandarmul plantat la uşă, tânăr, cu o privire speriată şi ridicol de jenat de postura sa, anunţă: “Ridicaţi-vă, intră Curtea!”.

Trei judecători îşi fac apariţia, ajung la masă, doi bărbaţi încadrează şefa, parcă îmbrâncită intră şi procuroarea de serviciu, o femeie mai mult bărbat. Cei patru privesc un moment sala. În faţă avocaţii, corbi adunaţi pe pradă, unii mai graşi, alţii mai slabi, toţi hămesiţi după bani, oameni cu treabă, alţii aflaţi în treabă, în fundul sălii (bineînţeles) o ceată de amabili alegători: ei tuciurii, bronzaţi gen măsliniu super-negru, mustăţi pe oală, clop pe cap, ele brunete, blonde de import, zece fuste colorate per bucată, salbe de aur pe două trei rânduri după avere, gureşe ca vrăbiile adunate în ograda găinilor autohtone prostite de farmece, toţi din etnia conlocuitoare oropsită. Zburlita se uită admirând în sinea ei această combinaţie de viitor şi hotărăşte: dacă amân procesul de două ori, frumuseţea asta îi pune zgarda dulăului. Ia dosarul, se preface că îl studiază cu atenţie, îl închide şi se uită încruntat la avocatul pârâciosului:

“Dosar incomplet, se amână, data va fi anunţată!”.

Ia cu fermitate ciocanul şi îl aplică pe nicovala enormei ei plăceri de judecător, fixând în cuiul dreptăţii eterne frumoasa ei intenţie.

Apetisantul ales al neamului, adică dulăul, se ridică şi oferă executiv braţul frumoasei pârâte, aceasta, tandru, apucă toarta viitoarelor plăceri. Sub privirea haotică a jandarmului, cei doi - pârâcios şi pârâtă - ies graţios din zoioasa incintă.

Afară, şoferul ce conducea luxoasa limuzină cu număr consfinţind apartenenţa ei la instituţia aleşilor neamului aruncă grăbit chiştocul şi se repede să deschidă cuviincios portiera.

El şi ea se urcă, dulăul cu o privire mângâietoare privi viitorul de lângă el şi porunci:

“La primărie, şofer!”
