Sources report today that all 115 McDonald's restaurants in Venezuela will be closed for 48 hours as a punishment for tax irregularities. According to the BBC, President Chavez has "taken on" US firms in the past in nationalizations. However, Venezuela's purchase of oil projects in the Orinoco never saw that country "pursuing a legal battle" with ExxonMobil. On the contrary, Exxon bucked the terms of compensation talks and went around the process to freeze the assets of Venezuela's state oil company.

El Nuevo Herald reports on the recent news that Venezuela's government will tighten spending by officials. The president warned of a new "zero waste" policy in the state budget. The measures will "first reduce costs, do away with wasteful spending, end corruption and unnecessary expenses, put an end to mega-salaries," Chavez said.

Finally, Venezuela may propose that OPEC adopt a system of "price bands" to help stabilize oil prices. Platts news service reports that former Ambassador to Washington Bernardo Alvarez described the plan to the National Assembly yesterday. Alvarez pointed out that Venezuela still sends "over 1.2 million b/d, every day," to the US.

You know, the thing that stinks the most about being being a guy that is 15 and looking 10 is that all of your classmates and friends are so much bigger than you. Because of that, you tend to get hand me down clothes from friends and family that are the same age as you. The only problem with that is you are getting clothes that they wore two or so years ago when they were 13 (Does that make sense?). In other words, Tater's Mom would give my Mom some clothes that he wore when we were in 8th grade together for me to wear my Sophmore year of HS. It's hard to feel cool about your style when that is the case. Don't get me wrong, my parents bought me new stuff too, but I did wear my share of hand me downs. I don't want to sound ungrateful, but if you want to know the truth, all I wanted was to look like one of the "cool kids"... and my folks didn't have the budget to really make that happen.

Deep down, I always wanted to dress like the preppy cool kids that always dated the popular girls. I wanted to dress and look like the kind of guy that would catch the eye of a girl like Megan Alba Biel. During the summer before my sophomore year, I had a talk with my Dad. I explained to him what I was going through. I told him about the cute blonde in the 9th row 14 seats back. I told him about how I wanted to look like one of the "popular guys". He understood. We went to Belk and bought clothes for my upcoming sophomore year. He didn't say a word about the price of the clothes we were buying. That's one of the many reasons why to this day my Father is my hero. I hope to be half the man he is one day.

I made an effort to improve my fashion and try to look like a preppy popular boy... I had the clothes, I lost the weight, I even changed my hair, but I don't think I really pulled off the "look". Not the look of the kind of guy that would attract Megan Alba Biel. I was missing one VERY important accessory. One I had not thought about until school started.

I went through my first day as a sophomore feeling much better about myself than I had my first day of school the year before. I had made a lot more friends the previous year. I had had a great summer playing tennis and hanging out with Tater. I even had a great vacation with my family at Pirateland Campground at Surfside Beach S.C. While on vacation, I met a cute brunette named Misty from Ohio that let me go to second base. That does WONDERS for a teenage boy's confidence.

I went through all of my classes hoping I would be in a class with Megan Alba Biel, but it wasn't meant to be. We shared no classes my Sophomore year. I was really bummed about that. I wanted to show her my new look, my new attitude, I wanted to see if I could muster up more than one sentence to say to her this year.

I went to all my classes for a couple of days looking around the halls hoping to see her. Then, about four days into the first week of school, I did see her, in the parking lot sitting on top of the hood of a Senior's car. She was hanging out with a guy who lived in my neighborhood pretty much all my life. To be candid,(and this may be just sheer envy and jealousy talking) I thought he was a jerk. He was obnoxious, loud, a ball hog in basketball, and generally unlikeable if you asked me. However, he did have a few things I didn't have. For starters he had the looks. He had a bad boy attitude, and he also had the one accessory (that I mentioned earlier) that I did NOT have.

He had a C-A-R.

And, he was Megan Alba Biel's new boyfriend.

Este ciclo involucra cinco eventos regionales en los estados Yaracuy, Portuguesa, Guarico Monagas y Aragua, a los cuales asistieron miembros de los Consejos Comunales, Fundos Zamoranos y del Frente Nacional Campesino Ezequiel Zamora, y técnicos de instituciones como INDER, INSAI (antes SASA), INIA, FONDAS, CONCUVEN, INTI, PDVSA Agrícola, MPPAT y CVA Leguminosas del Alba y CIARA, provenientes de 22 estados. En esta primera etapa se formaron 262 técnicos y 117 productores a nivel nacional.

El objetivo principal de los talleres fue capacitar tanto a los ténicos de los entes adscritos al MPPAT, involucrados en la produccion de caraota, como a productores del cultivo, en temas como producción agroecológica y el uso de productos biológicos y la eliminación del uso indiscriminado de plaguicidas. La labor principal de los facilitadores de CIARA fue la formación sociopolítica de los participantes. No obstante, las jornadas incluyeron ponencias téccnicoproductivas, las cuales estuvieron a cargo de especialistas de otras instituciones asociadas a la cartera de Agricultura.

Entre los temas que despertaron entre ellos resaltan los abonos orgánicos, la incorporación de micorizas, y el uso de biocontroladores y biofertilizantes en el manejo integrado de plagas. Asimismo, los productores, satisfechos por la calidad de la información recibida, sugirieron llevar adelante un plan de capacitación para cada rubro, antes del inicio de su ciclo.

Como parte de los compromisos adquiridos mediante este plan de capacitación, los técnicos, desde su espacio en la atención a productores, tienen la responsabilidad de multiplicar los conceptos y técnicas de la producción agroecológica del cultivo de caraota.

De acuerdo con la programación prevista por el MPPAT, los planes de siembra se desarrollarón paulatinamente, pero a paso firme, ya que es un enfoque de desarrollo que involucra la preservación del suelo, la recuperación de las semillas y la integración de la familia campesina desde el punto de vista socio-cultural y educativo.

Desde que era pequeña me han gustado mucho los animales. Antes de vivir en Algorta, yo vivía en Plentzia. En aquellos tiempos tenía todo tipo de animales: Gallinas, Conejos, Pichones, un par de gatos y tres pastores Alemanes.

Como la casa en la que vivía era bastante grande no teníamos ningún problema en cuidarlos a todos.

Hace cuatro años me mudé a Algorta, al vivir en un piso es imposible tener tantos animales. Mi madre ni siquiera me deja tener un perro !

Sólo me puedo conformar con el Dogo de Burdeos que tiene el novio de mi hermana. Checo es un perro precioso, tiene unos ojos que a cualquiera le llaman la atención. Nunca he conocido un  perro tan cariñoso.

Ultimamente lleva unos días que está muy apagado. A penas come y encima tiene problemas a la hora de hacer del bientre.

El sábado pasado mi hermana y yo tuvimos que llevarle al veterinario. Al llegar a la consulta nos mandaron pasar a una sala.

El veterinario nos hizo unas preguntas y empezó a revisar a Checo.

Fue un momento muy desagradable para nosotras, ya que el veterinario acabó metiéndole la mano por el ano.

¡ El olor que había en la consulta era espantoso !

En fin, espero que después de todo Checo se recupere pronto. Ahora entiendo porque mi madre no quiere ningún animal en casa.

Finalmente, Torrealba recalcó que en materia ganadera se está avanzando gracias al apoyo y a las acciones del Gobierno Revolucionario en materia alimentaria “Estamos trabajando para cumplir la meta de este proceso revolucionario de ir fortaleciendo la ganadería como parte de la seguridad agroalimentaria” puntualizó.

I LOVED Physical Science class. Not because of my fascination with dissecting frogs, but because of my infatuation with the girl in the 9th seat back of the 14th row. I kept hoping Mr. Hedgepeth would change the seating arrangements in the classroom. I was hoping I could sit closer to her, but it never happened. I stayed in the same seat all year long. I was in the seat between the two pretty girls that always flirted with the popular preppy guy beside me.

Not that if I had moved closer, I would have anything to say. I was so painfully shy and socially inept back then. Whatever I would have mustered up the courage to say, would have came out wrong and embarrassing. I think on average, I inserted my foot in my mouth about once every fifteen minutes back then. I like to think I have improved on that average in my adult years. These days, it's about once every 30-45 minutes.

Facts are facts, and the fact is, it's hard to feel like you are cool when you are in High School and you look 11 years old. It's even harder when you are freshman, and you spent the majority of your Middle School years feeling like an outcast. I realize now, that every kid has their own self esteem issues in their adolescent days. I just wish I could have realized that while I was going through them.

I firmly believe that some of the coldest and meanest people on earth can be 12 and 13 year old kids. I still have scars from some moments in middle school. In just my freshman year of HS, many of the scars were still to new and painful to be forgotten or overlooked.

Still, like I mentioned earlier, by the time the end of my freshman year rolled around, I was feeling a little better about myself.   I was making new friends, and feeling more confident. Still not confident to talk to the girl in 9th seat back of the 14th row however.

I guess now is the point of the story to where I need to come up with a name for the girl in the 9th seat back of the 14th row.. I really don't want to use her real name, simply because that would not be fair to her. She did not ask to be written about in one (or more) of my silly little blogs that 10 people read. With my luck, one of the 10 people that do read this will be her lawyer, so I will to use a fake name to protect the innocent.

Her name is Megan Alba Biel!! Just made that one up on my own!

So anyway, back to the story.. Freshman year was coming to an end, and I never really talked to Megan Alba Biel. I did spend a lot of time thinking about how a conversation would go.

Me- Hello Megan Alba Biel, you sure do look pretty today.

MAB- Thanks, I really like your smoking hot blue jean jacket. Is that a Guns and Roses patch on the back?

Me- Why yes it is, would you like to wear it?

MAB- Totally! Hey, do you wanna make out?

But that conversation never happened..

The one time I did talk to her that year it went more like this-

Me- Um, hey Megan Alba Biel. Can I borrow a pencil?

MAB - Sure

Me- Thanks

That was it.

Her lips were so full and red. I imagined her kisses tasted like strawberries. Her tiny hands would fit perfect in my tiny hands (I looked eleven, remember?). My arms around her tiny waist as we would slow dance. She could lay her head on my shoulder as I sang to her in her ear, and she would fall madly in love with me.

But it would take more than just asking for a pencil to make that happen.

I would have to do something to catch her attention. I would have to change. I would start working out, get in better shape. I would start dressing better. More like the popular guy who sat beside me, and the girls all flirted with. Yep, I was going on summer break and coming back the next year a brand new man!! It was gonna be different next year... next year, I was no longer going to be a shy freshman. I was going to be a SOPHOMORE!! I was going to be the sophomore that caught the attention of Megan Alba Biel!!!

SE REÚNEN EN MANAOS LULA, CHÁVEZ, MORALES Y CORREA

La integración suramericana y la situación política en Bolivia y Ecuador centran la reunión cumbre entre Brasil, Venezuela, Bolivia y Ecuador, que tiene lugar hoy en Manaos, confirmó la cancillería brasileña.
En esta jornada se reúnen allí los presidentes de Brasil, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva; de Venezuela, Hugo Chávez; de Bolivia, Evo Morales; y de Ecuador, Rafael Correa, para conversar sobre temas de las relaciones bilaterales y de interés para la integración.
La nota de Itamaraty indica que durante el encuentro Brasil y Venezuela firmarán nuevas líneas de cooperación, con destaque en los acuerdos para edificación de viviendas populares y sobre agricultura familiar.
Los presidentes Chávez y Lula verificarán también los avances obtenidos en la cooperación industrial y agrícola por la Agencia Brasileña de Desarrollo Industrial (ABDI) y la Empresa Brasileña de Investigación Agropecuaria (EMBRAPA).
Sobre Bolivia trascendió que el análisis incluye las negociaciones entre el gobierno de Morales y los opositores, pospuestas para el domingo próximo, y el tema de la nueva Constitución, aprobada el año último y pendiente aún de referendo popular.
Otro asunto en la agenda es la aprobación el fin de semana último de la nueva Constitución de Ecuador que incluye cambios electorales y en el modelo económico.

Matteo ha iniziato da poco l'avventura della scuola materna e come ho già scritto l'ha presa bene, come forse meglio non si poteva ma... ovviamente c'è un ma... ed è la preparazione mattutina.

All'inizio Silvia, per farlo entrare alle 09:00, aveva iniziato a svegliarlo poco dopo le 08:00 pensando che bastasse ma tra tirarlo giù dal letto, lavarlo, vestirlo e fargli fare colazione perdeva più dei 45-50 minuti programmati e puntualmente arrivava all'asilo in leggero ritardo.

Adesso lo sveglia prima delle 08:00 e tanto non basta. Ogni volta che ci sentiamo per telefono nel corso della mattina mi racconta sempre delle peripezie che ha fatto per riuscire ad arrivare in tempo, delle bizze che gli ha piantato nel bagno o dell'esasperante lentezza nel mangiare mezza tazza di latte e 2 biscotti.

Vedete, lui si alza anche bene, sorridendo nella maggioranza delle volte, è solo che per carburare è lento, lentissimo. Vorrebbe "strufarsi" (coccolarsi o farsi coccolare) nel letto per delle mezz'ore, non lavarsi assolutamente (al mattino odia l'acqua peggio dei gatti) e vorrebbe mangiare poco, giusto qualche dolcino e del latte ma che dev'essere obbligatoriamente freddo. Per carità, nessun problema nel menù, cerchiamo di accontentarlo fin dove è possibile ma come tollerare che per mangiare davvero 2 biscotti di numero ci metta 25 minuti?!?!?!?! Così come non possiamo certo permettergli di arrivare a scuola con gli occhi cisposi o i capelli sparati come un punk!!!!

Eppure anche con tutta la delicatezza possibile, Matteo la mattina è intrattabile, ostruzionista al massimo. Per non parlare poi del fatto che se arriva mia mamma per tenersi la Cecilia, lui s'impunta come un asino e pretende che sia la nonna a vestirlo, a leggergli il libro sul tavolo, ecc..., ecc...

Che trucco dovremmo adottare? Bisogna intortarlo in qualche modo ma non sappiamo come... non è più tanto piccolo da cadere in tranelli o false promesse e poi vorrei non aver bisogno di ricorre all'inganno per fargli fare delle cose assolutamente normali e ormai consolidate.

El General de Ejército Raúl Castro Ruz, Presidente de los Consejos de Estado y de Ministros, despidió con un fuerte abrazo al Presidente de la República Bolivariana de Venezuela, compañero Hugo Rafael Chávez Frías

El General de Ejército Raúl Castro Ruz, Presidente de los Consejos de Estado y de Ministros, despidió anoche con un fuerte abrazo al Presidente de la República Bolivariana de Venezuela, compañero Hugo Rafael Chávez Frías, en el aeropuerto internacional José Martí.

Chávez había arribado horas antes a Cuba procedente de Portugal, con el objetivo de intercambiar con Fidel y Raúl acerca de los resultados de un periplo que lo llevó también a China, Rusia y Francia.

El mandatario venezolano dijo sentirse muy satisfecho con los resultados de este intenso recorrido, en el que firmó acuerdos de especial significación para su país, particularmente en el campo económico.

El fraternal encuentro, que se extendió durante dos horas y media, puso nuevamente de manifiesto los fuertes y crecientes vínculos en los más diversos terrenos entre Cuba y Venezuela, ejemplo de relaciones solidarias.

Fidel expresó al entrañable amigo la gratitud de todos los cubanos por la importante y rápida ayuda brindada por Venezuela tras el paso de los dos huracanes, y ratificó los conceptos planteados en sus Reflexiones: El socialismo democrático.

Chávez agradeció los criterios allí expuestos y manifestó que Venezuela asume con gran amor y como un elemental deber esa contribución a restañar los daños.

Normalmente, cuando conozco a alguien soy muy vergonzosa, aunque sólo al principio. En cuanto cojo un poco de confianza soy una persona muy abierta y, como ya os he dicho antes, me encanta conocer gente nueva.

Cuando era una niña siempre tenía más relación con las chicas, pero ahora que soy adolescente, no sé porqué , pero me relaciono mucho mejor con los chicos.

Yo creo que las chicas siempre intentamos ralacionarnos con la gente que conocemos, y a veces nos resulta  un poco difícil hacer amigos/as. En cambio, los chicos la mayoria de las veces están dispuestos a conocer gente nueva.

Personalmente a mí me gustaría poder tener la misma facilidad para relacionarme con las chicas.

Creo que con el paso del tiempo lo conseguiré.
