He remembered his grandmother' s warning about praying on time: 'My son, you shouldn't leave prayer to this late time'. His grandmother' s age was 70 but, whenever she heard the Adhan, she got up like an arrow and performed Salah.

He, however could never win over his ego to get up and pray. Whatever he did, his Salah was always the last to be offered and he prayed it quickly to get it in on time.
Thinking of this, he got up and realized that there were only 15 minutes left before Qaza. He quickly made Wudhu and performed the Salat.

While making Tasbih, he again remembered his grandmother and was embarrassed by how he had prayed. His grandmother prayed with such tranquillity and peace. He began making Dua and went down to make Sajdah and stayed like that for
a while. He had been at work all day and was tired, very tired. He awoke abruptly to the sound of noise and shouting.
He was sweating profusely. He looked around. It was very crowded. Every direction he looked in was filled with people. Some stood frozen looking around, some were running left and right and some were on their knees with their heads in their hands just waiting. Pure fear and apprehension filled him as he realized where he was. His heart was about to burst.

It was the Day of Judgment.

When he was alive, he had heard many things about the questioning on the Day of Judgment, but that seemed so long ago. Could this be something his mind made up? No, the wait and the fear were so great that he could not have imagined this. The interrogation was still going on. He began moving frantically from people to people to ask if his name had been called. No one could answer him. All of a sudden his name was called and the crowd split into two and made a passageway for him.

Two angels grabbed his arms and led him forward. He walked with unknowing eyes through the crowd. The angels brought him to the centre and left him there. His head was bent down and his whole life was passing in front of his eyes like a movie. He opened his eyes but saw only another world. The people were all helping others. He saw his father running from one lecture to the other, spending his wealth in the way of Islam. His mother invited guests to their house and one table was being set while the other was being cleared. He pleaded his case, 'I too was always on this path. I helped others. I spread the word of Allah. I performed my Salah. I fasted in the month of Ramadhan.' 'Whatever Allah ordered us to do, I did.' 'Whatever he ordered us not to do, I did not.' He began to cry and think about how much he loved Allah. He knew that whatever he had done in life would be less than what Allah deserved and his only protector was Allah He was sweating like never before and was shaking all over. His eyes were fixed on the scale, waiting for the final decision.

At last, the decision was made.

The two angels with sheets of paper in their hands, turned to the crowd. His legs felt like they were going to collapse. He closed his eyes as they began to read the names of those people who were to enter Jahannam.

His name was read first.

He fell on his knees and yelled that this couldn't be, 'How could I go to Jahannam? I served others all my life, I spread the word of Allah to others.' His eyes had become blurry and he was shaking with sweat. The two angels took him by the arms. As his feet dragged, they went through the crowd and advanced toward the blazing flames of Jahannam. He was yelling and wondered if there was any person who was going to help him. He was yelling of all the good deeds he had done, how he had helped his father, his fasts, prayers, the Noble Qur'an hat he read, he was asking if none of them would help him.

The Jahannam angels continued to drag him. They had gotten closer to the Hellfire. He looked back and these were his last pleas. Had not Rasulullah [SAW] said, 'How clean would a person be who bathes in a river five times a day, so too does the Salah performed five times cleanse someone of their sins?'

He began yelling, 'My prayers? My prayers? My prayers?'

The two angels did not stop, and they came to the edge of the abyss of Jahannam. The flames of the fire were burning his face. He looked back one last time, but his eyes were dry of hope and he had nothing left in him. One of the angels pushed him in. He found himself in the air and falling towards the flames. He had just fallen five or six feet when a hand grabbed him by the arm and pulled him back.He lifted his head and saw an old man with a long white beard. He wiped some dust off himself and asked him, 'Who are you?'

The old man replied, 'I am your prayers.'

'Why are you so late?! I was almost in the fire! You rescued me at the last minute before I fell in.' The old man smiled and shook his head, 'You always performed me at the last minute, did you forget?'

SubhanaAllah, lad os alle mødes i salah rettidigt...

But I didn't think on what would this place look like now if what happened more than 1,400 years ago would never happen- that's a waste of time indulging in nonsense.

Fuglene begyndte pludselig uafbrudt at kvidre løs.. SubhanaAllah..

Allah swt siger i Al-Quran:

Seest thou not that it is Allah Whose praises all beings in the heavens and on earth do celebrate, and the birds (of the air) with wings outspread? Each one knows its own (mode of) prayer and praise. And Allah knows well all that they do.
(surah: An-Noor, Chapter 24, Verse 41)

Harun Yahya: THE MIRACLE OF TALKING BIRDS

Each and every species on Earth has been created with miraculous characteristics and wondrous skills. Even in one single living species, we can find abundant proof of God's magnificent creation. According to one verse of the Qur'an:

There is no creature crawling on the Earth or flying creature, flying on its wings, who are not communities just like yourselves-We have not omitted anything from the Book-then they will be gathered to their Lord. (Qur'an, 6:38 )

This verse draws our attention to birds which, of all living creatures, are worthy of special consideration and observation. There are approximately ten thousand different species of birds, many of which have miraculous characteristics. Wherever we live, we may encounter many of these creatures and can admire the different aspects of each variety. They exhibit countless examples of the evidence of creation, through their aesthetic appearance, their perfect flying mechanisms, their expertise in migration, their nest-making skills and their self-sacrificing behavior.

Meanwhile, other species of birds are created with a special aptitude for forming social groups. Many varieties live together as a community, warn one another of danger, work collectively to find food and shelter, and make various sacrifices to help each other out in any number of ways. (For detailed information, see Harun Yahya, Devotion Among Animals: Revealing the Work of God). As God pointed out in the Qur'an, these creatures are capable of establishing their own form of communication and performing in cooperative ways the duties inspired in them by God. Some birds distinguish themselves by their superior intelligence and special talents. These particular species are defined as birds that can imitate sounds, include the parrots, songbirds, and hummingbirds. Many of us have heard about, seen on television or even personally witnessed these birds' ability to talk. However, we may not have considered what a great miracle it is that these creatures can mimic in this way, or to the perfection of the way in which God has created them. These creatures' being hatched with their ability to talk or imitate sounds is one of the miracles of creation and, at the same time invalidates the claims of evolutionary theory.

Masha Allah all adhans are beautiful, they're calling us to our Lord, but subhanAllah when I hear the adhan go off on my computer at fajr time, I fall in love. I wish I could hit repeat lol but when I hit play I get the same adhan that plays during the other 4 salawat.

(sigh)

I miss Mecca & Medina. And I miss hearing the adhan wherever I was and then running to the masjid. May Allah swt bring us all back there soon insha Allah, and give you all the chance of going there if you've never yet been blessed to go.

Allahu Akbar
Allahu Akbar
Allahu Akbar
Allahu Akbar
Ash-hadu an la ilaha ill-Allah

Mr. Obama recalled the opening lines of the Arabic call to prayer, reciting them with a first-rate accent. In a remark that seemed delightfully uncalculated (it’ll give Alabama voters heart attacks), Mr. Obama described the call to prayer as “one of the prettiest sounds on Earth at sunset.”

Thanks for the tip:

Hawaii Reporter

Barack Obama’s Word Games

By Frank Salvato, 2/29/2008 8:25:48 AM

Salvato furnishes the text of the Islamic call to prayer in context.

For someone who wasn’t “influenced” by his “brief” stint in the Islamic faith, Mr. Obama certainly has command of a difficult language (words) and fond memories of a prayer that translated literally means,

“Allah is the Greatest, Allah is the Greatest. Allah is the Greatest, Allah is the Greatest. I bear witness that there is none worthy of worship but Allah. I bear witness that there is none worthy of worship but Allah. I bear witness that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah. I bear witness that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah. Hasten to the Prayer, hasten to the Prayer. Hasten to real success, hasten to real success. Allah is the Greatest, Allah is the Greatest. There is none worthy of worship but Allah.”

One phrase stands out, above the rest, to one who has read the Qur'an: Hasten to real success what is the meaning of success in the context of Islam? Two ayat leap immediately to mind.

9:111 Verily, Allâh has purchased of the believers their lives and their properties; for the price that theirs shall be the Paradise. They fight in Allâh's Cause, so they kill (others) and are killed. It is a promise in truth which is binding on Him in the Taurât (Torah) and the Injeel (Gospel) and the Qur'ân. And who is truer to his covenant than Allâh? Then rejoice in the bargain which you have concluded. That is the supreme success .

Allah made a bargain with the Muslims: they fight in his cause, he rewards them with Paradise instead of the Hellfire for which they were predestined. That bargain; gaining admission to Paradise is success. The adhan tells Muslims to hasten to it; ie. to Jihad by which they earn their bordello tickets.

61:10...13 O You who believe! Shall I guide you to a commerce that will save you from a painful torment. That you believe in Allâh and His Messenger (Muhammad), and that you strive hard and fight in the Cause of Allâh with your wealth and your lives, that will be better for you, if you but know! (If you do so) He will forgive you your sins, and admit you into Gardens under which rivers flow, and pleasant dwelling in Gardens of 'Adn Eternity ['Adn (Edn) Paradise], that is indeed the great success. And also (He will give you) another (blessing) which you love, help from Allâh (against your enemies) and a near victory. And give glad tidings (O Muhammad) to the believers.

If Obama is not and never has been a Muslim, why has he memorized; why does he recall the Muslim call to prayer?

Mr. Obama described the call to prayer as “one of the prettiest sounds on Earth at sunset.”

What's pretty about this sound? [Adhan from Mecca,1.3MB Mp3 ] It sounds like the Muaththin's camel died and he has a toothache.

Oxford bishop backs Islamic call to prayer

By Laura Clout
Last Updated: 2:47am GMT 13/01/2008

The Bishop of Oxford has supported plans to broadcast the Islamic call to prayer over part of the historic city.

Welcoming proposals from Oxford's Central Mosque to sound the call three times a day over East Oxford, the Rt Rev John Pritchard said those opposed to the plan should "relax" and "enjoy community diversity".

The bishop also rejected claims by the Anglican Church's only Asian bishop that sounding the call in Britain represented an attempt to "impose an Islamic character" on some areas.

Writing in The Sunday Telegraph the Rt Rev Dr Michael Nazir-Ali of Rochester sparked fierce debate when he criticised the amplified prayer call and suggested that some parts of the country were now too dangerous for non-Muslims to enter. Bishop Pritchard said: "I want to distance myself from what the Bishop of Rochester has said.

"There are no no-go areas in this country that we are aware of and in all parts of the country there are good interfaith relationships developing."

Dozens of East Oxford residents have urged the council to reject the plan by mosque leaders to issue the two-minute call to prayer up to three times a day.

They fear that it will turn the area into a "Muslim ghetto". However, Bishop Pritchard said he was "very happy" with the move.

"I believe we have good relationships with the Muslim community here in Oxford and I am personally very happy for the mosque to call the faithful to prayer in East Oxford," he said.

But he admitted there were practical issues that needed to be resolved, such as the number of times the call went out and its volume.

Personally, I don’t think the debate has anything to do with ‘islamization’ of certain parts of the country, and neither do high-tech advancements sufficiently replace tradition - if this is argued, then the Clock tower bell at westmeinster and every other working church should also stop as we all have watches!!

The Adhaan (call to prayer) is a traditional method of reminding people of their religious and spiritual obligations - akin to a church or temple bell - that is used to remind worshippers that they should forsake worldly desires and seek pleasure in their Lord, and that this is a way to bind the community together.

Just think- the more muslims meet up, the more the Imam can keep an eye on those who are straying and can counter that with timely, grass-roots reform. Thus it will make the Islamic Community much stronger internally, and thus represent less of a ‘risk’ to fellow non-muslim brethren.

But maybe, the reverend is more worried here about his sheep flocking to other farms(??) surely, a religious society, whatever religion they may choose to adopt, is better than an irreligious one - secularist arguments aside, that a revealed religion provides its adherents with a codified set of rules and regulations and inherently confers upon its adherents a primitive moral spirit-level to assist in prevention of the propensity to do the immoral or the unethical, is worth calling to...!!

(Sulaiman Wilms/Muhammad Al-’Arabi Al-Qarawi)

A reminder given in todays Jummu'ah khutba:

It is sunnah when a new baby is born to give the adhan in the right ear and iqama in the left as soon as the baby is born. They are the first words the baby hears in the world. The adhan and iqama are usually given before a prayer, in this case it is for the baby's Janaza prayer (funeral prayer). Reminding us our stay in this world is only temporary, it's said our life in this world is like the time between iqama and salah in normal prayers, ie very short so prepare well for it.

The Adhan and Iqama for our own Janaza has already been called and we are making our way to the presence of Allah.
