Synopsis: Erzählt wird die Geschichte der ersten Generation der „Rote Armee Fraktion“ (RAF) von den Wurzeln in der Studentenbewegung der späten 60er Jahre bis zu den Toden von Andreas Baader, Gudrun Ensslin und Jan-Carl Raspe und der Ermordung Hans-Martin Schleyers im Oktober 1977.

Kritik: Zum Werbematerial des Films gehört ein Flyer, der auf drei Seiten auch eine Chronik der RAF beinhaltet. Jene 60 Daten sind jedem dringend zur Lektüre angeraten, dem die Ereignisse nicht vertraut sind und an Überblick gelegen ist. Der Film folgt in loser Folge der Liste und zitiert bisweilen wörtlich aus dem Buch des früheren SPIEGEL-Chefredakteurs Stefan Aust, das in erster Auflage 1985 erschien. Aust fungierte zudem als Berater am Set, was – mit dem Namen des Nachrichtenmagazins im Hinterkopf - der Produktion den Nimbus der Faktentreue verleiht.

Die ganze Wahrheit also und nichts als die Wahrheit? Die selbst für heutige Kinoverhältnisse noch stolze Länge von 150 Filmminuten kann nur fragmentarisch wiedergeben, was in 10 Jahren deutscher Vergangenheit passierte. Das Gezeigte soll bei aller gebotenen Sorgfalt noch massenverträglich sein, so dass in fast allen Bereichen Abstriche gemacht wurden. In vielen Fällen mag das verzeihlich sein, aber schmerzlich vermisst habe ich zumindest ein Augenmerk auf die Rolle der Rechtsanwälte und ihrer Überwachung während des Prozesses, die Legitimierung der Isolationshaft und Abhörung in Stammheim und überhaupt mehr vom Zusammenspiel von Polizei, Politik und Jurisdiktion bei der Terrorbekämpfung. Den Opfern der Terrorakte wird keine Stimme verliehen, das Töten an sich als gewaltsamer, gewollter Akt muss als Anklageausdruck reichen. Erwähnenswert ist auch, dass sich der Film - im Gegensatz zum Buch – zu einer klaren Aussage über die Todesursache von Bader, Ensslin und Raspe an jenem 18. Oktober 1977 bekennt, obwohl auch nach 30 Jahren nicht alle Akten freigegeben wurden und offene Fragen bleiben. An der Herkulesarbeit einer kritischen Reflektion der Terrorjahre und ihrer Auswirkungen haben sich die Macher wohlweißlich nicht versucht.

Bei allen Versäumnissen kann DER BAADER MEINHOF KOMPLEX mit unbestreitbaren Vorzügen aufwarten: Er besitzt einen sagenhaften Drive von der ersten bis zu letzten Minute. Er geht mit seinen Akteuren in verschwenderischer Weise um, eine Vielzahl der just eingeführten Gesichter beendet sein Dasein kaum 5 Minuten darauf als durchgeixtes Fahndungsbild. Der Anspruch der Authentizität reicht von der verblüffenden Ähnlichkeit der Schauspieler/-innen mit den echten Personen bis zur detailgenauen Nachstellung der Tatorte. Auf die Höhe der Zeit bringen an geeigneten Kernstellen eingefügte Originalbeiträge aus Radio- und TV-Nachrichten. Schwerpunktmäßig und titelkonform sind es die Geschicke von Meinhof, Baader und Ensslin, später noch Brigitte Mohnhaupt, die in einer Art Kaleidoskop in Szene gesetzt werden. Der theoretische Unterbau der Aktionen, zunächst sporadisch illustriert durch Meinhofs Kolumne in der Zeitschrift „Konkret“ und späteren Verlautbarungen, tritt im Verlauf des Films in den Hintergrund, was nicht groß negativ auffällt. Die Konzentration auf die Verbrechensakte außerhalb von Stammheim und die Vorgänge während der Haft und des Prozesses geben nun die Linie vor. Nicht unwesentlich läuft DER BAADER MEINHOF KOMPLEX Gefahr - auch wegen knapper Biographie und der überzeugenden Darsteller Bleibtreu und Wokalek - ein fast charismatisches Bild seiner Protagonisten zu zeichnen. Martina Gedeck verleiht Ulrike Meinhof indes eine differenziertere Persönlichkeit. Durch sie wird beispielsweise wenigstens deutlich, dass Einzelhaft kein Abenteuerspiel ist und die Gegenseite mit härteren Bandagen zu kämpfen gelernt hatte. Jene wird praktisch allein durch Bruno Ganz als BKA-Chef verkörpert. Horst Herold, der fast 10 Jahre als Quasi-Gegenspieler von Baader in der Wiesbadener Zentrale waltete, dürfte ihm wegen der dramaturgischen Nähe zu einer seiner früheren Paraderollen nicht besonders schwer gefallen sein.

El concierto tuvo dos partes, una primera, más movida, dando saltos y bailando por todo el escenario, y una segunda que empezó algo más tranquila, con todos sentados, cantando "Poeta encadenado", dedicándosela a "El Migue", el tercer componente, desaparecido en 2004. Pero la  cosa se animó de nuevo y empezaron a improvisar y a darle un toque todavía más flamenco al asunto, con todo el público bailando y dando palmas, contagiados de esas ganas que le ponen. Se me hizo bastante corto, y es que lo estaba disfrutando porque se notaba que no solo éramos nosotros los que lo estábamos pasando bien, sino también ellos, como un grupo de colegas que se reúne a pasar un rato cantando y bailando y es que, aunque suene a tópico, tienen mucho arte.

It's thin and not too long. Rather perfect if you're standing with a crowd of people who will be smoking about 2 cigarettes. It's also pretty grand if you'd like the taste of a good cigar in your mouth without lighting up a big guy.

Due to the way I draw it's relatively spicy but Montecristo uses quality tobacco, keeping it pleasant. Some cigars benefit from a calm draw with plenty of time between the draws and I am willing to give them that, but habits are hard to break. The end is particularly spicy so be prepared to slow down. The club provides a nicely even burn and doesn't wither with a bit of wind. Taste is like a general Montecristo, not like a Montecristo Edmundo.

Scoring will be a bit different from the fine folk at Cigar Aficionado. A 75 will be a good worthwhile buy with caveats like place, use, etc.

My late grandfather, a wonderful man but terrifying driver, used to make left turns across multiple lanes of traffic without looking. "They see me," he used to insist. Yes, they see you splattered across a windsheild if you keep driving like that. My mother and her brothers tried to get him a driver but he refused. This episode is about this problem.

It begins with a funeral over which Father Maxi presides. He says:

“It is sometimes hard, in times like these, to understand God's way. Why would he allow nine innocent people to be run down in the prime of their lives by a senior citizen who, perhaps, shouldn't be driving? It is then that we must understand, God's sense of humor is very different from our own. He does not laugh at the simple 'man walks into a bar' joke. No, God needs complex irony and subtle farcical twists that seem macabre to you and me. All that we can hope for is that God got his good laugh and a tragedy such as this will never happen again.”

That is an hilarious and amazing description and understanding of God, all the more fitting coming from the mouth of a Catholic Priest.

Después de tanto tiempo sin escribir (me hacía falta un poco de descanso), vuelve la sección de cine. Y qué mejor retorno que con una película que me gusta mucho. No voy a decir que es la mejor película de acción como he leído, o que es una genialidad, porque me encanta, pero genialidades hay pocas.
Sí es cierto que lo que hizo Verhoeven es muy difícil, porque parodiar muchas de las bases de la sociedad americana, con una película de presupuesto americano no lo hace todo el mundo. Aunque a simple vista es una película de acción, la crítica al poder del ejército es tremenda, mostrando los peligros que genera. En esa sociedad se diferencia entre militares y civiles, siendo los militares los que tienen derechos de ciudadanía. Tremendo.
Por otro lado, también critica los estereotipos de las películas del género en todos sus personajes y sus relaciones. Y deben verse los personajes como eso, como una parodia.

Tomándola como peli de acción y ciencia-ficción, es muy entretenida. Bichos alienígenas, sangre a raudales, munición a chorros, impresionante. Me encantó el ritmo; bien por Verhoeven.
El reparto, no se puede tener muy en cuenta, están parodiando.

Los efectos especiales son, para la época, muy buenos, y los bichos son tremendamente reales. No desentonan hoy día.

La banda sonora, de Poledouris es fantástica.

	Bueno, después del estreno de la serie de televisión, imagino que todo el mundo conoce a Dexter. Pues las andanzas de este personaje se basan en las novelas del escritor americano Jeff Lindsay. Confieso que la serie me pareció un poco lenta, la idea me gustó, pero le veía poco ritmo, nada que ver con el libro, que me enganchó desde el principio. Este es el segundo de la saga que comienza con Dexter:El oscuro pasajero (el cual ya está en mi lista de pendientes) donde se plantea la historia del personaje y por qué hace lo que hace. Bueno, y para el que no lo sepa, además de trabajar para la policía de Miami (a la que pertenece su hermana), básicamente lo que hace es asesinar. Pero sólo a los malos. Podríamos decir entonces que es una especie de superhéroe, porque si se carga a los malos...pero claro, es que él disfruta matando y eso ya no está tanto en la tónica de los superhéroes. En fin, lo mejor es conocerlo porque es un personaje bastante especial, sigue las normas, ayuda a su hermana, juega con los hijos de su novia, cualquiera diría que es perfecto si no fuera por detalles como que no le gusta el sexo, ni la gente, guarda muestras de sangre de sus víctimas... A pesar de que carece totalmente de sentimientos, eso no le impide estar dotado de una ironía y un negro sentido del humor que te seducen de inmediato. Para mi gusto mucho mejor el protagonista de papel que el televisivo.

Tropic Thunder is one of the surprising comedy successes of recent films. A solid premise, a terrific cast, and a good helping of language give it a punch that I haven't seen out of a comedy in quite some time.

Past Stiller projects had me wary of getting my hopes up for Tropic Thunder, but as it turns out I was thoroughly pleased with the film. The difference comes from the fact that this film has a good bankable premise, which is something most other modern comedies seem to have trouble with. The layers of actors playing actors no longer acting is rich territory for comedy, and it is well capitalized on.

The cast and their performances are what give the film real traction. Ben Stiller plays much the same as previous roles, but with more depth and less throw-away weirdness, reminding me of his work in "There's Something About Mary." Jack Black does a great job of compound comic relief without going too far over the top, much like his performance in "High Fidelity." Robert Downey Jr. breaks type and plays what is probably his most entertaining role since "Kiss Kiss Bang Bang" as an Ausie method actor playing a Vietnam-era black man getting a bit lost in his method. Supporting performances by Jay Baruchel (of "Knocked Up"), Nick Nolte (channeling a bit of Gary Busey), and Tom Cruise flesh out the film to great effect. Cruise in particular plays his oddest character to date, what I can only describe as a mix between Al Pacino, James Lipton, and Joe Pantoliano, hyped up on some sort of mind altering substance.

By all appearances, the film is a comedy for the adult crowd, which makes it stick out from the landscape of tween comedies. That the creators opted for an unrestrained dialog and chose not to cash in on every gross-out gag available (thought the film has its fair share of over the top moments, they are well played), lets you know what audience the film is aimed at.

All in all Tropic Thunder is a well executed action comedy, that avoids most of the pitfalls that sink other comedies these days, and makes for a satisfying good time.
